Re: really hard title problems

Try calling your state license/ title/plate office or dmv for a start. Wish I knew, but when I bought mine with 8900 miles, the dumb cahier clerk put 90,000 on title as after I got title and called office she said it was too old a car to have 8900 miles. Check your paper work. Andrew

Re: really hard title problems

I saw something about that on another forum I'm a member of (I'm going through something kinda similar) and somebody said he did this on a vehicle ten years ago.

He is from Michigan and had to:

-have the police run the VIN to make sure the vehicle doesn't come up stolen
-get a "surety bond", which he got from his insurance guy.

He said that the bond "covers you if the original owner ever tried to claim it back as his." He also says that the Secretary of State requires this before issuing a title.

I don't know the person that posted that personally, it could all be .

On a side note, I called the Ohio title bureau today about my IROC, which I can't get the seller to return my calls on. And they said that it's a simple matter of having the guy come to the title bureau and signing it for me. I bit back telling her "Gee. Why didn't I think of that?"

I dunno. I'm kind of stressing about my title, too, since I'd like to sell this car off.

Depending on how long it has been since the car was registered it may have fallen off the books, you might be able to apply for a lost title.

Re: really hard title problems

Find a lien sale company. It costs about $200.00 and takes up to 60 days but it's well worth it.They do all the paper work and at the end of the waiting period you have the papers you need to register the car.

Re: really hard title problems

how come thirdgen owners almost always fail to have a title? kind of annoying seeing as my 86 IROC and my 83 Z28 both have no title. the 83 is a CT car, and the IROC is from rhode island
