Salvaged 83 TA, found 2 build sheets......sorta
Hi folks,
Just a quick note to update everyone with my progress on the salvaged 83 Trans AM. I've gotten all of the interior trim pieces and carpet out and the car has finally dried out. One of the many interesting things I found while doing this was the discovery of two build sheets. Unfortunately, both of them were damaged though I was able to pull some codes from one of them. The first one I found was under the carpet in the cargo well:

As can be seen it was all but destroyed and very little was retrievable. The second one was under the carpet in the area of the driver's seat:

I think this one was probably in good shape until the car got its water damage. This area was still soaking wet when I removed the carpet and the build sheet was very hard to retrieve. But, I did get some codes from it. Here's what I have so far from the build sheet and radiator support tag:
From the build sheet:
D80 - SPOILER, REAR DECK
GU5 - 3.23 AXLE RATIO
G80 - AXLE, POSI-TRACTION, LIMITED SLIP
J65 - BRAKE SYSTEM, POWER, FRONT & REAR DISK
NA5 - EMISSION SYSTEM, FEDERAL, TIER 0
NB1 - EMISSION SYSTEM, CLOSED LOOP
N09 - LOCK CONTROL, FUEL FILLER DOOR
N10 - EXHAUST SYSTEM, DUAL CATALYTIC CONVERTER
N24 - WHEEL, 15X7, ALUMINUM, 5 INCH BOLT CIRCLE
N33 - STEERING COLUMN, TILT TYPE
N65 - WHEEL & TIRE, SPARE, SPACE SAVER, STEEL
PB4 - LOCK CONTROL, WHEEL
QYH - TIRE ALL, 215/65R15, WHITE-LETTER
TR9 - LAMP, GROUP
T93 - TAIL & STOP LAMP, SMOKED
WS4 - MODEL CONVERSION, TRANS AM (hard to read)
WS6 - PERFORMANCE PACKAGE, SPECIAL
YR1 - SEAT, FRONT CUSTOM
YS1 - SEAT, REAR CUSTOM
YT1 - BUILD UP DOOR & QTR - on sheet it says CUS 1/4 PAN
Y06 - CARPETING, SIDE KICK PANEL, FRONT
64C - TRIM COMBINATION, CLOTH, LIGHT BEIGE - my sheet says D/SKIN LUX CL
64I - INTERIOR TRIM, LIGHT BEIGE - my sheet says DOESKIN MIX
19L - BLACK PAINT
55P - GOLD TURBO WW
55M - GOLD ACCENT
2DR T/A MODEL
From the radiator suport tag:
64C - TRIM COMBINATION, CLOTH, LIGHT BEIGE
19L - BLACK PAINT
19U - PRIMARY COLOR, BLACK
55M - GOLD ACCENT
AR9 - SEAT, FRONT BUCKET, EUROPEAN STYLE, PASS DRIVER RECLINE
CC1 - ROOF HATCH, REMOVABLE PANELS, GLASS/LEXAN
LU5 - ENGINE, GAS, 8 CYL, 5.0L, CFI
N09 - LOCK CONTROL, FUEL FILLER DOOR
D80 - SPOILER, REAR DECK
Codes that are hard to read:
HOOD BIRD DEC - I think this is: D53 - ORNAMENTATION, EXTERIOR HARDWARE APPLIQUE
SHADE COV - I think this is: D42 - SHADE, REAR COMPARTMENT SECURITY
Also, here's a picture from under the driver's door sill. It looks like the sill was taped out when the car was repainted and the later ground effects were added; it clearly shows the original gold accent paint:

Lastly, here's the link to the site with more pictures from the interior removal. Check out the wiring I found when I removed the ECU cover panel.

That looks a lot like my car, but I only found one build sheet. Interesting that you had two. Good luck with the rebuild!
