Ultimate Third Gen
Okay.....not sure where to post this (and Moderators certainly put this where you wish) but with Firehawks, TTAs, and the mods - numerous 383 strokers, T56's out here, yada, yada, yada....
BUT, what would the ultimate thirdgen look like?

Re: Ultimate Third Gen
The ultimate.......mine!!!
Or mine?
I was intentionally a little vague in the initial post so as not to limit creative thinking. It was just that I was thinking about some of the magazine articles about the third gens and some of their limitations. So, if someone was to build the ultimate third gen, would it have ABS brakes, independent rear suspension, DOHC. 5.7 litre, 6-speed or 5-speed.....what about the interior and of course with the exterior (still staying with the Firebird and Camaro platforms).
Of course if anyone has done some or all of these mods, pictures would be very interesting to see.
----------
By the way Scottmoyer, I forgot to add, that really is a beautiful car you have there!!

I'm not so sure I would have gone for the 4th gen interior. But the rest is dynamite. LS1 with LS1 brakes, chrome C5's. *drool*
And that paint.....

Re: Ultimate Third Gen
I agree, this is a very vauge question. To some people, originality is king. To others, a mild restomod is tops. And to another group of individuals, nothing is more ultimate than something that barely resembles a third gen and is all custom. And all answers are not wrong, it's just that someone will have a prob with it. I say post up and lets see some good looking cars!!!

Re: Ultimate Third Gen
well I would like to say mine is the ultimate thirgen but IMHO it would have to be Neil's build right now, that thing is a beast!!!
but I do agree with klause, everyone will have different opinions and ideas of what the "ultimate" thirdgen is...I'd just say ALL Thirdgens are awesome!

Re: Ultimate Third Gen
I love these cars but it's just time to move on, I want to cut down to three thirdgens for now and pick up some newer fun cars (looking at cars like Z06, 996 Turbo, Viper, ect...). Plus I've hardly used my TTA's scince picking up my AMG, it's more fun to drive

I have one of my two ultimate Third Gens... a Convertible Formula 350.. Of course the other is the 91-92 Formula Firehawk, which I will probably not ever get...
Re: Ultimate Third Gen
I was waiting for you Leonard. Based on history alone and the fact that it's not just the last available 3rd gen car, but the last 3rd gen made puts your car at the top of the list. I was being sarcastic about mine. Just a run of the mill 87 with l;ots of options. Wanna sell me your car yet?

Scott,
It probably won't be for sale until I am ready to retire......lets see, I'm 49 now and want to retire at 55. You have 6 years to save your money!! My car is not the ultimate 3rd gen, but it sure has been fun owning it.

Re: Ultimate Third Gen
Scott & Leonard...
I think either of your cars are more than just run of the mill 3rd Gens...
Scott, Your car has T-tops AND a 350, that in my book makes it uncommon... Definately more Hard top 350 cars out there, In some ways that "Was" my ideal 3rd Gen until I learned of the convertible 350 cars
Leonard,
Being the LAST Camaro from Van Nuys, the LAST third Gen, The LAST of Lasts in many respects makes it a good canidate for a museum...

Re: Ultimate Third Gen
A loaded 350 T-Tops IROC-Z is the ultimate Third Gen of course!
(regular production anyway
)
That last Third Gen definetly belongs in a museum or with a true collector in a climate controlled garage. That car will be worth alot more than probably all other Third Gens one day.

Re: Ultimate Third Gen
I still find it amazing how Sci-Fi has preceded Reality. Back in the 80's a TV in the car was UNHEARD OF, now its almost commonplace, some have backup assist screens, and of course a minivan I do not think hardly any minivans come standard without the DVD system...
