'91 TA and WS6 question
Hi everyone,
I have been looking at this website for months, but just registered today because I bought a '91 Trans Am convertible yesterday and have a couple of questions. These TA specific questions might seem elementary but I come from a Corvette background so please be patient while I get up to speed. My car is a WS6 and my first question is, were all TA's WS6's or was that an option? Second, where can I find replacement PONTIAC letters that go between the taillights?
Thanks in advance,
Jason U

Re: '91 TA and WS6 question
I believe the pontiac letters on the 91-92 2 piece tail lights were painted on
Re: '91 TA and WS6 question
The letters on the taillights were silkscreened on. There are a few repro decals out there. Autografics has them, http://www.autografics.com/pages/birds3.htm I have not tried these myself. The ones I got for my 92 TA were from a company that is no longer making them, they were in Australia.

Re: '91 TA and WS6 question
Jason,
As for Trans Am's and WS6... It seems that MANY MANY Trans Am's in 1991 & 1992 got "WS6" Center caps but actually did not get the option. For some reason it appears that Pontiac decided to put the center caps on All Trans Am's after a certain point.
The only way to tell is to look at the SPID sheet which should be in the center console...

Re: '91 TA and WS6 question
Hi John,
I wondered about that and I checkled the SPID before I bought the car and it is a real WS-6. Is there a website that might have the number of cars painted each color along with option totals? My car is bright red with a beige top and beige leather interior.
Thanks,
Jason

Re: '91 TA and WS6 question
Jason,
Good, I was hoping that was the case..
As for Production figures... Sadly there is nothing released out there. I know the information IS availalbe, but getting it from the people that have it seems to be like pulling teeth. http://www.phs-online.com/ has the records, You can contact them and see what is going on, they might be able to help you with some of that, but I doubt it as there are bigger fish to fry than 3rd Gens right now...
I Do have some generic totals like the number of cars with Leather, Power Windows, Locks, CD, etc... However it does not go into cars with WS6, nor the colors... Unfortunately the accuracy of the information is actually under scrutiny as totals do not exactly add up perfectly... Where I got the information is from the Library, it was for Dealerships to help determine the quantities of cars to order with what types of options and to give trends to help make decisions. I think its accurate to +-1%, of course I have found in some cases whoever incerted the information was off by a column, which does not help.
