plastic sun shades

I came across a set of plastic t-top sun shades. They are supposed to be OEM GM stuff. Are these things any good? Better than the fabric covered ones? I'm just trying to decide If I want them or not.

Thanks.

Keeping in mind I have yet to actually see the factory shades, I thought that they were all plastic underneath. Maybe someone took the fabric off.

As far as function goes, I doubt it would be much different as it's still going to block the sun. It'll be easier to clean. The disadvantages would be it wouldn't look as nice, and if you were really big into car audio, I bet they would somehow affect the acoustic sound vs. the dampening qualities of cloth.

Re: Prognostic

I had some plastic GM ones from Modern Day Muscle.. I was dissapointed... I sold them and got the ones from ACME (everyone sells them) with material...

They have these little locking tabs (the plastic gm ones) and they plastic is not flat... I was planning on covering them, but the other ones I got are much better... Fabric will get dirtier, but it's a cruising car, not a race car...

Re: Prognostic

I have a set of NOS GM plastic shades. They are fine. They have sticky mounts that attach to the t-top & the shade is attached with a plastic thumbscrew. Easy to remove. The nice thing about them is they don't degrade or fade from the sunlight hitting them & water dosen't effect them if your t-top should leak.
