Tires

What brand and size tires came on a SC Camaro in 1988? I know they probably don't produce the same tires today as what was used as stock tires when these cars were new, I just want the closest thing.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Re: Tires

Size was 215/65R15. I believe the brands varied on the lower-performance cars, but I remember seeing Goodyear Eagle GT and Firestone tires being mounted on base Camaros and Firebirds back in the late '80s.

Re: Tires

If it helps any, my 86 Firebird came from the factory with Goodyear Eagle white letter tires. Size is 215-65-15

Re: Tires

You can look at the door jamb and get the original tire sizes.

You never know. I scored new set of "stock" tires for my vert (Goodyear Eagle GSC's) at my local dealership only a couple years ago! Goodyear did make them for quite a number of years past '89 (in my case) so it's not like they were actually 20 years old.
While they were great tires in there day, and only OK for performance today, I wanted original. And it's surprising how many other 3rd gen owners have noticed. There can't be to many rides left around wearing original style tread.
