Wow, its in NJ too. I could pick that up over the weekend if 300 members want to shell out $100! It would be a cool idea, I'm sure we'd get published on some magazine. If we could get 200-300 members to put in 100$ I would totally be down.

im curious to know how many people are watching the car in their ebay. im watching it just to see what its gonna go for, as im sure everybody here is. i just emailed him and asked how many people are actually watching the car, anybody wanna take a guess?
Re: The 85 IROC w/4 miles is on e-bay!
725 watchers. I am selling the car on eBay. I have gone through all these posts and appreciate all the comments although some are pretty negative. It is my feeling that if I made any attempt to clean or disturb this car in any way I would de-value it for the next owner. It is his choice how to properly bring this car back to showroom fresh. I am not a professional at that kind of stuff but what I am is an enthusiast, like you guys, and I would love for this car to go to the right owner. I welcome your questions.

I am from NJ where did you find that car? And whats the story with the Roadrunner behind it specs etc? Just wondering if I might have passed those trailers with no knowledge of what is in there. I am sure you might have seen that I am one of the ones that is not a big fan of the shape of the car. I can understand your point of view on not disturbing anything, but after sitting in questionable conditions for 23 years (not in climate controlled garage) then I am hard pressed to say that yes its worth a lot of money. I guess my feeling is that you found it when most of the third gens have only just started climbing back up in value thus if you kept it quiet for another oh lets say 25 years then it might be worth what some of the barn finds have been going for. Anyway good luck with the auction.

Whoever wins your auction and buys your Camaro, please try to make them aware of this website. I'm sure all would like to hear from the new owner, and kept aware of the status of the car. I'm sure additional photos, especially if it is cleaned up by the new owner, would be even more requested and welcome.
Thanks.

If it does not sell now I hope the exposure it's getting will put me in touch with the right buyer. If not, I'll hold on to it for a while.

. Will do. Maybe the next owner is already a member!

Anyway that last sentence is definitely true some people will not care what they pay for it or what shape it is in. As I said earlier good luck with it. Anyway can we pry the reserve from you now?

Re: The 85 IROC w/4 miles is on e-bay!
I don't see the justification in selling for more than its actual price NEW.
I know its worth whatever a buyer will pay, which in this case wouldn't exceed half the price new, that's just me. I see it this way
You buy a car in 85, realizing crap, I cant pay for this car anymore, well Ill put it somewhere safe and secure until I can afford it again. (What I did with my IROC I have now, bought it but couldn't afford it so it sits).
Years go by and its forgotten, and in this time realizing the motor and such have been sitting and rotting, you just store longer hoping once again you can fix it but now needs a new motor and tires and such. (As I see rims and tires were supposed to be installed but never were, probably because he couldn't afford it after he trailered and stored it).
So now come 20+ years later and he still couldn't pay for it decides to sell it on ebay, realizing, it still only had 4.3 miles on it (technically doesn't mean anything because of all the rotting and corroding that has taken place over the years).
So all in all, I see this as a more worse condition than my sitting 89 124k IROC. WHICH CAN DRIVE and WILL DRIVE without swapping motors.
I don't need a dispute on this, I understand everyone does it, I have seen completely rusted to hell 67-69 camaros go for over 15k so..it isn't to bad.
I guess I'm saying I don't get how someone justifies THEMSELVES they should buy this car for over double the price it was new even though its in half or less condition as it was new...just because it says 4.3miles

Re: The 85 IROC w/4 miles is on e-bay!
The car was not originally purchased by any of my family members, I have no idea where that came from. The story from the original owner was that the car was purchased new and was intended to be modified into a street racer. The wheels and tires were sold and the junk ones put on. Time and money constraints forced him to leave the car alone, untouched for all these years. Being in the right place at the right time liberated the car at this time.

$23,100 and counting about 10 hours left on the auction. I wonder if this will even hit his reserve price and sell or not. This is very interesting...

If not, I'm telling you we should group together, like 300 of us and give this guy a deal and make the 'TGO historic forum car'.

Like I posted in the video thread...I bet it doesn't even hit reserve! Looks like I'm gonna be right with less than 2 hours to go. My guess is.... reserve is $30,000

Final Bid was $24,600 didn't meet the reserve and it didn't have a bidding frenzy at the end. My suspicion is people realized that the car might not be worth that much.

Actually it did pretty well considering there were no pix of it clean. I can't help but wonder how it would do with all the original pix as is now, plus a few of it after a quick gentle wash and with some correct IROC-Z rims/tires... I believe it would go past $25k easily at that point.

See, I don't think it would have done much better. Up to 25k? Sure. But I mean any idiot can clean and wax a car on their own and get a set of rims for a car and pop them on. That being said, if the reserve was 30k, do you think the people bidding on the car value a car wash and a set of rims/tires at $5,000? The value/history of the car outweighs the fact that it is dusty and has junk rims.

I guess to me the whole "oooo untouched" barn find aspect wins over a car that has been touched and detailed.

I know that the owner wanted to leave it in as is condition, but really, the car should be prepped for sale and at least look presentable. He might not want to spend money on rims, but the car should be clean and shined all over, especially for the price he's asking. If hes not a detailer and doesn't wanna go that route, then even a good wash would help alot. Can't see what your buying through all that mess on it.

it almost angers me to see such a great car go to waste, i know it only has 4 miles on it, but it was ment to be driven.
