Value up?
So, now that Pontiac is gone, (
what a shame) will the value of our third gen Pontiacs go up? What about rare ones, like my 1988 notchback? I defiantly am not looking to sell it, but one just wonders... (BTW I did a Pontiac farewell salute today, all I did was launch the car and it had nice white smoke for about 30 feet... lol )

Re: Value up?
I don't think there are any indications that Pontiac's demise will influence the value of our cars. I don't think discontinuing the Firebird affected the value of our cars either. Your notchback looks sweet though!

Re: Value up?
Only time will tell...
I honestly do not believe it will have too much impact, but I have been known to be wrong.
The increase in values of nice low miles third gens is rising, and rising quickly...Dealers are calling the third gen a "secret" or the next hot muscle car claiming they will get $30,000 for an 87 IROC-Z 350/T-top ... And when questioned they stated they have gotten it before...
I think what people will have to be patient for is those low miles cars will eventually be gone and people are starting to look at higher and higher miles cars because the low miles ones are almost non-existent... Eventually there will be a ripple effect and as time goes on the values of most cars will go up. ( I am specifically referring to the TPI cars ) all other cars all bets are off...
The market will push the values up, with the introduction of the 5th gen it may pull people away from older cars and into a newer car, but only time will tell...

Re: Value up?
I think the ones that will go up might be the ones on your list of rare/desireable cars John.

Re: Value up?
Desirable cars value will increase regardless of Pontiac's future. The Camaro value didn't change much after it went away in 2002 and Oldsmobile prices haven't changed at all. I don't think you'll see anything out of the ordinary.

Re: Value up?
My list pretty much is what I feel has the most potential... Based upon history and current trends. Not all cars will increase equally, and some cars may not increase significantly, even if they are on the list.
