most stuff works other than dash and some body panels but a camaro nose would replace a firebird nose

Re: part swap from trans am to camaro
The problem with swapping fenders from a Firebird to Camaro or Camaro to Firebird is the fender flairs and wheel openings are quite different.
At a glance they look to be the same, but a Camaro wheel opening is about 1" or so longer than the Firebird. Also the Firebird is more round where the Camaro is more elongated in shape.
The fender flairs on a Camaro have a more definate line where it meets the body, but the Firebird is more soft and rounded.
I think it would be easier to take a Firebird nose and put it on a camaro and then fill in the rear quarter flairs to match the front wheel fender flairs...

You can do that but you need to swap out the entire front end. Everything ahead of the doors would need to be replaced. However, like okfoz said, the wheel openings are quite a bit different and it's really noticable once on the car. The only body panels that are the same between Camaros and Firebirds are the doors and hatch and even those have different holes for the ground effects and spoiler. As far as the interior goes, all the dash and console parts are different but outside of that everything is more or less interchangable.

Re: part swap from trans am to camaro
SHould be no problem, those parts are typically all the same... Except the small parts inside some things are either Firebird or Camaro specific, typically trim, the exception is the dash is obviously different between models... Like Thirdgen ranch said tho, you may have to drill new holes in the doors for the ground effects to work... But the door will fit on the car.
Also if you have a one piece rear seat it will fit in any car, but if you have a two piece, it will only fit in a two piece equipped car... The center for the 2 piece seats is a tube that was welded to the transmission/driveshaft tunnel.
Does that make sence?

Re: part swap from trans am to camaro
Just so you know, the Trans Am ground effect holes are quite a bit higher than the Camaro ones. If you put Camaro ground effects on a Trans Am door the top half of the Trans Am ground effect holes will usually show so you would have to fill those holes. I don't know if you would want to go to that much trouble when you shouldn't have much of a problem finding a Camaro door.
