hi might as well introduce my self seeing as im new here names Aaron live out in northern MB, canada i have been a fan of the Firebird and finally decided to jump in and get 1

i recently have bought this Trans-Am 305 4bbl (runs perfectly) with a rebuilt 700R4 rated for 450hp for 1,250.00 with the intent of restoration possibly 1/4 mile track racing and have a few questions im hoping someone might be able to answer

heres the pics of the vehicle

first of all is there anything impreticularly special about the paint job im having a hard time finding anthing on the black with gold stripe scheme its apprently original

second im looking to tackle restoring the interior first any sugjestions what i should tackle first ?

and thirdly the engine now i have read alot of diffrent oppinions on this i will most likely be racing this TA should i stroke the stock 305 or install a 350 small block and upgrade that

sorry if this is in the wrong section if it is please feel free to move it

thanks in advance for anyone who is able to give me some help on this

First of all, welcome to TGO!!!

Now to answer your questions. First of all, there is nothing special about the black/gold paint. It is a very common color combination.

Second, if you're going to restore your interior a little bit at a time you should probably just start with what's in the worst condition. There really isn't any certain order you should follow. However, it makes sense to replace the carpet at the same time you replace/redo the seats because you will need to take them out along with the console and interior plastic when you replace the carpet anyway.

Third, if you plan on racing the car a little and are looking for better performance there's no reason to keep the 305. You can build a 350 for about the same money as a 305 so there's no reason not to switch. Just make sure you save the original engine if you decide you want to go back to original at some point.

Great, we also get more parts in all the time so if you don't see what you need there's a good chance we may get it soon.
