help with iroc z vert 5speed

i am buying a 88 irocz camaro convertible with tpi and a 5 speed mannual trans black paint black top

i have the vin number can anyone run it 4 me or tell me were can i check the vin to make sure its a original irocz convertible tpi 5 speed car

the owner claims the car is original but has no rear disc brakes or iroc z hood 4 some reason or other
it does indeed have the tpi and the 5 speed

i want to make sure it is before i buy it thanks

I don't think you can tell if it's an IROC from the VIN. You have to look at the options label that's in the console glove compartment. Make sure the VIN on the label matches the car's VIN. Write down the 3 digit codes and input them to the decoder that's available on this site. It's on the homepage.

The 3 after the P in your vin # means it is a factory vert. Also the F in your vin# means its a LB9 TPI IROC since only the IROCs were equipped with the LB9 engine in 1988. As for the hood its been changed and been replaced with a sport coupe hood.

The 3 in your vin# means it is a factory vert. The F in your vin# means it is a LB9 TPI engine which was only available in the Iroc in 1988. As for the hood its been changed and is off of a sport coupe.

1) Yes it is an IROC, in 1988 there was only 2 models, the SC and IROC, there was no Z28, but there was a limited run of RS' for specific states.

2) The VIN typically does not indicate model, as mentioned before, but the LB9 (TPI) engine as noted by the "F." The SC & RS were not available with that engine...

That's common. My bone stock '89 IrocZ vert (LB9 & 5spd) is also front disk and rear drum.
