Price for '87 IROC

A friend is looking at a '87 IROC with a 5.7, T-Tops, mileage suppose to be in mid 40K's.

He's asking for a average resale price, suppose to be garage kept, the seller is asking $3K. Is that a reasonalble price? Think he's hoping that a retail for one of these is like $4.5K-5K.

Thanks for any response.

Re: Price for '87 IROC

If he's looking to flip the car, this is not the place to get a price. There are too many variables that determine the value. The car might have 40k miles but was driven by a teen ager that didn't care, beat the crap out of it, tranny slips, scratches in the paint and engine runs with a cracked windshield. Not worth the money being asked. Or the car could have been babied, looks mint and runs like new, paint is awesome and the car was well maintained. Then it's worth more than that price. Without pictures or being able to see it in person, nobody here can give you a price.

My feeling is that for only $3K, it's going to have issues. Nice original unmolested IROCs with that mileage regularly bring double if not triple that price.

Anytime a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. I'd be asking lots of serious questions about why the seller is selling so cheap.
