With the recent purchase of my 88 IROC, I now own both plastic and glass t-tops. I thought it was funny the above linked-to thread was one I started 3 years ago

I like glass better. My IROC, while not rattle-free despite just 21k miles, has glass and I like them better for sure. The NOS Lexan tops I put on my RS 3 years ago annoy me because they have sharp metal edges on the inner and outter edges of the insides of the tops, assumably to give them more structural integrity. The problem is, I scratched one of them a little in the t-top bag in the trunk because they rubbed together in the bag. That damned metal edge was the culprit. I put some electrical tape over the ends of the tops to avoid having it happen again, but its still an asinine design.

 

I noticed something on mine today. I have one glass and one plexi TTop on my 91Z28. I had my plexi top out and noticed about 5 dents (about the 1/2 the size of an eraser head) on the edge of the top where it meets the center divider. Never noticed it before, but they would definitely make sense; it being plexi, not glass.

 

BTW, for what its worth my old 89 RS had plastic tops when brand new, and my parents swapped them for glass within 3 months due to the edges cracking. The dealer actually swapped a glass set off a used 89 RS they had in stock that had already had them swapped onto it
