has anyone seen this on ebay its a 86 with 167 miles I want to bid but man it looks fishy.why new tires? WHY NEW SPARK PLUGS?look at the front seat buckles buttons the underneath looks like it has 60,000 on it?I don't think anyone whould change tires etc if your storing it and not driving it.every part changed drops the value bad. and the best think who would go look at the car(state they hope there the winning bidder) and tell everyone else how nice it is what does he want to pay more.

No 3rd brake light and the interior looks like it came out of an 88-90.

Window sticker says B84 body side molding.

I also noticed that the lift point in one of the last pics is bent up?? who would have bent that up even at a seedy shop getting the rubber changed on a supposed 167 mile car??

So let's see, 1985 or earlier hatchback, 1988 or newer interior, missing body side moldings, incorrect hose clamps, wrong tires. And that's just what we can see from the pictures.
Even though the Autocheck appears clean, I wonder if this car was stolen and partially stripped when it was new? That might explain some of the missing original parts. There should be no need to replace the seats and hatchback on a car with 167 miles.

Put me down as cynical. No way that car has 167 miles on it. A very well cared for, or refurbished, machine to be sure but I'm real skeptical.
I sent him a message and I'm waiting for a response.

looking at the pic showing the rear end it looks like it has 100,167 miles. and something looks like its leaking on the torque arm, otherwise why would the bolts look like they're wet.

WWAAAYYYY too much stuff changed/wrong for '86 to be for real.

the front bumper seems to have more than few scuff marks. the real question i have is why pick a 5.0 to store?? i would think someone would pick rarer and better options.
even if its real 20+ years of sitting cannot be good for the fluids especially in the tranny. i would think you would have to redo the trans engine and rear end just to be sure everything isnt gummed up.

I asked the seller, "what is the story about the low miles"? Here is part of his response.
Dear yosoyelwarg,
car was shipped new to k.c., mo... dealer traded to swinson
chevrolet in tulsa,ok... stolen with a group of about 6 other
units... put into a warehouse and found years later... bought by
someone i know... put into a shipping container at his house...
sat and not touched for about 15yrs... he got into $ trouble, so
we purchased the car along with a few others... the car is clean
enough to sit next to any new camaro on a showroom floor... i
chose to sell it here before taking it to barrett jackson in vegas
along with a few of my other cars.

I think the miles are legit... but it does obviously have a LOT of wrong parts on it. In addition to what was mentioned already, the alternator is also non-original.
But... look at the close-up pics of the engine bay. They only look that clean once. The wire harness, the PCV vacuum lines, the power steering box... that stuff is clearly low mile original stuff. I think the mileage is correct, but obviously there's more to the story.

I know about that car and even talked to a good friend of the owner. Let's see if I can remember the story....
If I can recall, the car was originally purchased out of an auction pool or something like that. Something about the car was stolen when it was brand new on the lot. They found it quickly and a guy bought it to be converted to a drag car but he never did anything with it. Supposedly it sat outside under a car port for many, many years. I was told abut the car as a legit, low mileage car but it it showed some age due to the way it was stored. I never went to look at the car because I felt he wanted a tad too much (at the time) and besides, why have a car you can't drive? (w only 167 miles on the clock.)
Is the car an original paint car?
It's local and I'll be happy to swing by for a look if somebody is serious.

The ESC decal on the shock tower is a new one to me...
Why does stuff like this get so much interest? It's not even close to correct, it stinks to high heaven, and there are a million red flags. Who cares what the odometer says when the car that carries it is such a mess? It's far from original, the mileage doesn't mean anything when it's a Frankenmaro.
