alright so i got this car at the beginning of the summer and the car was not in the greatest of shape....

as you can see the car was painted flat black and it was fading and looked horrible, that part of the reason i was able to pick it up for 700. the starter needed shim so the car made horrible noise when you turned it over and only the previous owner seemed to be able to get it started with the way that carb was set up, otherwise you had to manually make the starter disengage. the car also ran hot and the coolant was a light shade of brown.
all wasn't bad though, the car has a 355 in it and is semi built, it has 3 inch straight through exhaust, and it came with a nice b&m ratchet shifter. oh yea and how can i forget the t tops that don't leak!

at this point in the project my father and i had fabbed our own air deflector to help with the cooling and had already done some major work on the body, specifics coming in the next post

What did you use to spray the primer? If you have a gun I would say you should go with painting it your self . I get my paint from paintforcars.com . For about $150 you can get a kit that comes with all the reducers hardeners primer and paint you need . Nice quality stuff too. I just painted a boat with the $150 kit using a harbor freight $8 gravity gun and it came out amazing . Even for it being painted in a front yard under a tree

Re: my 89 rs resto project
all the primer is from a can, we don't have a compressor or a gun to spray it with, and that's why we aren't 100% on doing it ourselves. to do it here we would have to make our own paint booth outside and then still have to buy/borrow everything else. right now there's still plenty of work to be done so when we get to the point that its ready, we will decide then. also another option is to rent our friends garage who has everything and all we need would be the paint.

Big improvement in the engine bay. Like the new air cleaner too.

Looks good. Just one thing though... Wouldn't it be easier to just remove the taillights before you paint it? Instead of risking getting paint on the lights even if you mask them?

Just an idea...looks great though.
