Slow Restore Progress
Slow Restore Progress
I guess one could say this is partially my "return" to the 3rd gen scene (as my account here has been inactive for years and progress on my 3rd gen project is slow).
I have an '84 Z28 Camaro (owned since '98, spun a rod bearing in '03 and prompted me to want to do a full restore of the car). Over the last 7 years, I have made little to no progress (sadly). As of these days my big stopping point is need to clear out my garage (too much JUNK).
But, I thought I'd take a moment to share. My progress I report on my web site at the following link:
http://crzyz28.sytes.net/mycars/84ca...h/rebirth.html
Biggest thing I am pleased to report, after MANY years of searching and woulda/coulda, I finally GOT. My strut towers are shot (rusty, many holes and just need replaced). With the help of some friends and battery operated sawzalls, this March, I got a good clean pair cut from a junked car in a junk yard. Trust me, I was happy as a kid at Christmas when we succeeded (thanks to quickly draining the sawzall batteries, it too 3 trips).
Getting those towers are a MAJOR success towards my project. Now, I need to remove the engine craddle, interior and the rear end and start flying (again, my space problems with the garage).
I hope to be more active on this forum moving forward (and currently, my involvement in helping build a house for my sister is now a new slow down in my projects such as cleaning the garage). But I really hope to be able to move forward as time rolls on.

Re: Slow Restore Progress
slow progress is still progress , we all have personal limitations . just don't let the fire go out . ( Hell at my age any progress is good ) , ( no comments JamesC ) good luck with your project .
Re: Slow Restore Progress
I hope to provide some updates (I can't wait to update with a CLEAN garage for working on this project
On the plus side, the labor may not be going into the project yet, but I am getting one HECK of a collection of pieces....
I have sitting around for this:
- Replacement strut towers (clipped from an '86)
- Aluminum Drive Shaft
- UMI Rear Control Arms
- UMI Sub-frame connectors
- Replacement, greaseable door hange kits
- PST PolyGraphite Front End Re-build kit
And I am certain more goodies to come. But all this is currently sitting in the garage (under or near the Camaro). And I have NO intent of letting ANY of it go to waste!
