What 5 speed came with the 5.0 h.o in '86

I have a 86 t/a with the 5.0 h.o and a 5 speed I'd like to know what tranny was in this? The drive train is no longer in it someone took it out and put a 355 an a auto those are going into my dads '71 chevelle ss

Same as I had in my '83 - Borg-Warner T-5. Yours probably had a hydralic clutch though. Still have my old T-5 (along with my L69 engine) in my garage...why are you pulling the 355 out??...just curious...

This is a stupid question but would a 6 speed from a fourth gen f body fit in a third gen

Yes. The T56 from a Lt1 f-body (93-97) is a fairly easy swap. Ls1 (98-02) T56's can be made to work...but require more effot. If you search around the Trans/Drivetrain board you will find tons of info.
