What is this
ok since I got my camaro in parts. I need to know what this part is... Im assuming its part of the air pump. and i think it goes behind the engine. if so how do i get it back there. doesnt seem to fit. and can i replace it with rubber hose?
Re: What is this

Piece #29... On later cars it's a rubber hose, on earlier cars it's a rubber hose. From about 85-88 or 89ish it's a steel pipe. It's always in the way, but the rubber versions are the lesser of the two evils.
BTW, GM bolted the pipe to the engine before the engine went in the car. It bolts to the studs on the back of the cylinder heads, the tabs are for spark plug wire looms. It's a real pain getting a stock engine out, since it's virtually impossible to get behind the engine (bellhousing bolts, ground wires, etc) with that pipe in place.

Re: What is this
Thanks for the help... looks like ill be leaving it out and using a rubber hose instead. seems easier.
Re: What is this
Probably, the proper molded hose is probably discontinued, but it should be the same on TBI cars and probably other cars with the same V8 and AIR system. The hard pipe is a nightmare, I've got one out in the garage just like it off my 86, it never went back on the car, and eventually I had the AIR pipes on the headers welded closed. Depending on how modified (not original) the car is, I'd be tempted to delete the AIR system. On my 86 the original numbers matching engine was gone, so all bets were off and the AIR system was just in the way.
