Look at my find
All i can say is i got extremely lucky to find this baby before someone else got to it and for the price I paid. Its an 89 L98 Iroc with T-tops and all the power options. And ive been told by a friend that some people on here think that they never made a L98 Iroc with T Tops but i have the matching vins from my hood to car to prove it so naysayers stay away. But when i found it the previous owner had lost the keys. So i had to put another ignition cylinder in it (non-vats style), and bypass vats. But once that was done she fired up and runs great. And its by far the straightest third gen that ive seen in person that hasent been restored. It has taken a punch to the nose (previous owner hit a dog), but other than that the body is straight as an arrow. Also it sat for about a year and a half but it was under a car port so there is hardly any rust on it at all, and none of it needs repairing only surface rust. Also the car has some upgrades such as 4th gen. rear with 3.73's and a Zexel, aluminum GM angle plug heads, SLP runners, adj. FPR., Headman LT's with dual exhaust into a single with cat and flowmaster that was nicely done, and the motor has a cam but unknown what size/duration. And heres the kicker, i only paid $1000, and only have another $600 invested with the wheels and tires and other misc repairs/maint.

I'd say that was a dang good deal! Wish I could come across something like that. Good luck with it.

Re: Look at my find
Yea i gotta admit, i thought about flipping it once but no way cuz this is the exact car ive always wanted and its in great shape. Yea it might be a while Uncle Tom but once the 2 700r4's I got go caput she will be getting treated to a T56, sooner if funds allow!
Re: Look at my find
There's a little truth to "no t-tops with the L98", but they definitely made them. It's just that in some years, and some models, that combination couldn't be obtained. It's not even remotely unusual, however, in the case of the Irocz.

Re: Look at my find
The IROC from 1987 - 1989 there were quite a few, most of them in 1989, second, 1987 and third 1988. They are NA in 1990-1992...
The Pontiacs is a little different,
1987 Available as an export option only (Several to Canada, none to the US AFAIK)
1988 NA
1989, want one, get one.
1990 NA
1991 & 1992 Formula 350 only.
If anyone ever tells you any different than the following, then they are just guessing. The reason why the T-tops and 350 are only available certain years is due to CAFE standards with Fuel economy. It had NOTHING to do with structural rigidity, or that kind of crap, My Convertible 350 has no problems with the stock 350 engine...
1989 by far is the most common year for the combination.
With all that said, its still a great combo. Great find!!!
