Not sure what I have here
Not sure what I have here
Hi Guys
I have been doing some reading here and I am a little confused I just bought a 1989 Irocz convert from an 83 year old gentelman who is suffering from the onset of Alzhimers he bought the car from a a friend of his in the US who was a GM dealer he bought it in 1990 and was told it was modified by the dealer and GM for use as a pace car so the RPO sticker is missing as a result of changing this car from an Auto to a ZF6 I pulled the build info from GM and this car has a few wierd options it has the LB9 option but also has dual cat exhaust and 4 wheel disc brakes but no G92 or J65 nor does it have N10 and the wheels and steering wheel pictured below the steering wheel says International Race of Champions on it as well as the bowtie all other options seem to be as listed but the trans and exhaust seem to be factory or at least dealer installed using GM parts the wheels look to be TA wheels and ideas as to how I can verify this info does Chev have anything like PHS does for Ponchos
Here is the build info I pulled from GM

Re: Not sure what I have here
I just bought it because I have always wanted a 3rd gen rag top with a stick LOL I only paid 1500.00 for the car and the body and under carrage is in great shape she needs paint an some TLC but it runs great could use a little more ummph but it's only a tpi 305 so I don't know if I have to move up to a 5.7 or if I can massage the 305 up to the 400hp range LOL
Re: Not sure what I have here
Sounds like your typical Iroc/Z28 convertible... Lower output LB9, auto, highway gears. Whatever was modified after the fact, it left the factory as a normal Camaro.
The ZF6 was a popular upgrade before the T56 gained popularity. SLP used to sell most of the parts needed to do the swap. Without supporting documentation, the history of the car is going to be difficult to verify. It could have just as easily been modified by an enthusiast as the story you were given.
There's a reason no one has gotten very far with a 305. Not much chance of 400hp without a power adder.
