92 25th RS

I had found a 92 25th with stripes, wheels badges correct car just that the left front was damaged by the ditch. My wife and sons fell in love with this car Red/Black stripes and flawless and clean interior. The main things I want to change on this are factory options.
Replace AM/FM Tape with AM/FM/CD & hidden ipod connection
Swap TBI for TPI set up I have off 87 C4 TPI parts will be ported along with heads and big tube runners.
Swap rear to a posi disc unit
Add wonder bar and other suspension upgrades from factory cars.
Only aftermarket parts that are easily visable are a set of headers and Y Pipe I have.

This still has to be a car wife can drive anywhere and get decent mileage.
So the main things for me is down the line it looks stock. Not some car that has been thrashed within an inch of its life. How do you think it affects value down the line, only has 92,000 on the car now.

Re: 92 25th RS

It's not worth much to begin with. A wrecked car is never worth as much as one that hasn't been. While the 25th package might boost the value a little, it's not by a whole lot.

Ultimately though, a car is "worth" whatever someone is willing to pay for it. Only way to find that out, is to sell it. Or buy it... basically, whatever you paid for it, is probably about what it's "worth".

Getting rid of that lame TBI motor and putting in a TPI 350 is bound to increase its "value", if done PROPERLY. No hack jobs!!! Put your dykes away and DON'T USE THEM ON ANYTHING.

You'll probably find it easier to locate a donor F body to get the harness out of, than trying to graunch the Vette harness into it. That would ALMOST CERTAINLY end up being a hack job, and might be all but impossible to ever get to work right.

WORKING RIGHT, reliable, no bird's best looking wiring, etc. is important to "value". Nobody in his/her right mind will pay full price for something that looks like Cletus and Jethro cobbled it together with a little help from BillyBob and and a few gallons of liquid courage under the big shade tree in the back 40.

Re: 92 25th RS

Personally, if I was you, I'd buy it, restore it properly, and keep it. Swap in a posi disc rear and a CD player if you want, but frankly I'd leave the TBI. The miles on the car aren't insane, and the car will be "worth" more original than modified, any day. Plus, your C4 ECM and injectors (not that you'd want to reuse the injectors anyway...throw them out and buy new ones) are too big for a 305 anyway.

If you want TPI, buy a TPI car. A 25th RS already has some uniqueness and value to it...why wreck that?

Re: 92 25th RS

The wreck was fender and bumper and jr. fleeing state right after. I bought it from the mom and dad who covered for jr. leaving the state. The son was 19 had only liability, and may have had a few cocktails at the time of the first snow accident. I did get what was a $3000 stereo system and pulled that out to put stock back in. Will gladly sell that crap as I don't need it the stock radio is in.
So leave the TBI on it and just let wife have her fun then. Her sister had a 70 1/2 that after hubby built the engine up and stall convertor stripped out the AC. It was no fun to drive for her with bad MPG and with no AC hot in the summer. My wife wants a fun car that she hits the key and goes where ever she wants.

Re: 92 25th RS

I agree with sofakingdom. The RS cars with the L03, in Heritage Edition or standard, aren't the highest value cars. The Heritage Edition was only a $200 option. For some reason, KBB states the value about $8k more for it. People don't pay that. Build the car the way you want it, just don't hack it up. I wouldn't worry about resale, especially if you don't plan on selling it.

Re: 92 25th RS

If you want a car that is reliable and you can get in and go without any problems, then it's hard to beat the L03 engines. I put almost 200K on my '91 RS without anything major going wrong with it, and would probable still be running it if the whole "hot rod" bug hadn't bitten me, LOL. I think the worst thing I had to do to mine was put a water pump on it.

If you had a good set of headers to it you'll not only help your MPG, but also you performance too. That was one of the most noticeable things I did to mine.
