Rocker cover Gasket.

Hi,

Originally did the Thirdgen Rocker covers come with gaskets or was it gasket seal that was used, specifically for the 2.8L V6 engine.

Also I remember reading some previous posts some time back which said that the Original thread lock used by GM was blue. What about the gasket seal that was used from the factory was wondering was that blue also or could it be any color. The gasket seal used under the rocker cover is red (no gasket is fitted). Trying to determine if the Head Gasket was replaced as I have no history with the car.

Thanks.

Re: Rocker cover Gasket.

rtv on the valve cover gaskets was not the way gm assembled it. They used gaskets. Gm rtv was gray or black. loctite was 242 and 272 and was not generally used on valve covers on some applications on the intake liquid teflon was used to seal water passages.

Thank for that. At the moment there are no gaskets on the rocker covers just red Gasket seal. Under the intake manifold I can see some more red gasket seal so obviously that must have been removed also.

Did GM use Cork or rubber Rocker Cover Gaskets.

Thanks.

for valve cover gaskets stock cork until around 86-87 or so. rubber is much better.

Okay, Thanks. I will order the rubber ones today. I don't think I need to use gasket seal on the rubber ones.
