1985 Z28
I read through the read me first before asking thread and could fine nothing about my car. I know it is oddly optioned and would appreciate any feedback. There are not many rpo codes on the sticker, but it would probably be easier just to list what options it has.
It has the 305tpi, auto trans, no ac, power drivers seat, am radio, console clock, disc brake posi rear. That is it, it is all original with 43k miles on it and has not left my garage in 15yrs.

Re: 1985 Z28
I had the car when I got married, the day after my wife wanted to drive it,lol. She didn't make it out of the driveway and hit a telephone pole. It has been sitting in my garage ever since(15yrs now). It needs a left front 3/4(hood, fender, bumper, ground effects). I was just wondering if it were rare enough to fix one of these days or if I should part it out , or just leave it be. It's keeping my 85 vette and 85 iroc company.

Re: 1985 Z28
If it's just external body parts and not a damaged frame then it will be easy enough to fix. and i would vote for saving as many of these cars as possible, as long as it's not a rust bucket, since it's been garaged for 15 years i would think the underside would be pretty clean.

If you like the car, fix it.
If you don't, sell it, or use it some other way.
Leave "rare" out of the picture, because it's NOT. It is slightly "unusual", in not having A/C, and having only the least desirable radio option (even LESS desirable than NO radio, because at least NO radio would be less useless dead weight than .... that other thing); but that also makes it less "desirable" to the types that care about "rare". Remember, some things are "rare" because NOBODY LIKES THEM THAT WAY. (or at least, the vast majority)
The console clock is widely reviled in the world at large, except among people who have them. It would be about like a friend of mine back in the mid-70s whose wife had a baby blue about 73 or 74 Firebird with baby blue snowflake wheels. Granted, a chick car, for a chick; but still, it was enough to make most of us have to fight not to blow chunks when we saw it. I'm sure it was a THOROUGHLY "rare" car; but did that make it "desirable" or "valuable"? I doubt it. That clock is about like that; a throwback to earlier days for old people, which is what the rest ofthe car sounds like. Don't forget, back in 85 they hadn't invented Viagra yet, and it sounds like that was what that car was, except for somebody that hadn't discovered tape or even FM yet, and couldn't afford the usual Viagra precursor from those days, a Vette.
Sounds like a phenomenal "receiver" chassis to put all the REALLY NICE stuff onto, out of a REALLY NICE car that's REALLY WORE OUT as well or REALLY RUSTED, though.

I would agree with sofakingdom -- you have an unusual combination of options but I'm not sure that anyone would consider it rare or desirable. Sounds like it has light damage so in that respect it should be be pretty straight forward to repair.
As with any car, do what you want to do with it. Fix it and drive it, mod it, whatever.

Re: 1985 Z28
Thanks for all the input, I apologize for having a brief description but frankly there is not much to say about the car as it seems to be stripped of just about anything, the only options were those listed. No rear defrost, no cruise, no power anything, except for the power seat. It was a light hit, but the last thing I wanted to do was fix it then so my lead foot wife could wreck it again, lol. I do body work for a living and restore cars in my shop at home, but it is almost like a mail man taking a walk on his day off. I look at the car and ponder at it might be worth to someone today or in another 30 yrs. I just thought I had an oddball car that was uniquely optioned, but I guess not. Thanks again everyone for your time and responses. Too bad there isn't a Marti type report for third gens so one could see exactly how many like yours were built.

If you dont mind, is it a Norwood OH car or a Van Nuys, CA car?
11th digit of vin either N for Norwood or L for Van Nuys.
Just curious. Pics would be cool too! Even if it is damaged.

Re: 1985 Z28
Yeah everybody wishes there was a report like that; but GM didn't keep records that way. They can tell you how many of each option were produced, but not how many cars got what combo.
Not an issue here though; the car in question .... just ..... isn't ..... one of ...... "those". These cars, for reasons beyond themselves (having to do more with the spirit of the times they were born into) never have, do not now, and never will have the same kinds of "value" that 60s hot rods have. Quite simply, nobody cares. Rare, maxed-out, commonplace, special-order, .... makes no difference. They simply don't excite that kind of reaction in the potential buying public. Wouldn't matter if it was THE ONLY one just like it. "Rare" is worth NOTHING.
So, do as you see fit with it. There's no "value" to "destroy" no matter what, beyond what you see sitting in front of you. Just, I ask, don't do anything that will embarrass the rest of us or reinforce the "hilljack" stereotype we all seem destined to live with. No straight exh pipes, no pretend drag racer wheel combos, no stupid hood scoops, no glasspack "mufflers" (I use the word loosely in that instance), no oil smoke or leaks, no hacking the A/C off (not an issue here it would seem), and so forth.

The console clock makes it 'classy'.
I'm one of those nuts that likes cars with a peculiar selection of options and I like saving the odd ducks.

Yeah its kind of strange how much the story changed on CL... weird.
And I think the console clock is cool as heck, just because I think its neat.

I mean if the OP is a body man than is sounds like an easy fix, but I'm sure the car needs a tune up, fuel pump and tank drain and some other things since it's been sitting for 15 years. I say fix it or sell it so someone can fix it and enjoy it.
