How many different wheels could you get for a 87 trans am. I went to look at one that had 15" crosslace wheels i though all 87 and newer trans ams had 16" crosslace wheels. Are these the only two options or was there more? What trans ams got the 15's and which got the 16's?

 

IIRC, the 15 inch crosslace wheels were only for base model Firebirds...I want to say the standard wheel for the 87 T/A was the 15 inch twisty/vented 5 spoke (similar design to Sunbird/Grand Am/Fiero, etc.).

Gold 16 inch crosslace wheels were standard on the GTA, and were the only wheels available on this model. These wheels were available in charcoal on the T/A as an extra-cost option. Not sure if they were also available with the rare Red or White lace this year; this might not have happened until the 1988 model year. Gold crosslace wheels were not available on base T/A, although I have seen some loaded-out 1991-92 T/A convertibles that had them.

 

are there rpo codes for wheels this car is a original owner 87 t/a has the 15" crosslace wheels he claims he hasnt changed anything since he bought it new from the dealersship it is a non ws6 car digital dash 305 tpi a4 two tone paint.

 

The base 15 inch T/A wheel should be RPO N24. Crosslace 16 inch (GTA wheel) has the PW7 RPO, regardless of the color of the crosslace. Gold 15 inch crosslace (which sounds like what the owner claims the car has) should be N90.

 

My 87 WS6 has the 16" gray cross lace wheel (PW7's) I gave not seen 15" cross lace wheels on an 87 base TA-like was said they had the 15" wege looksing wheels.
