Ok I looked on the block of my 82 z28 today and these are the numbers I found any help? 0713cfr 1cl188594

 

Those aren't casting #s; they're just block stampings.

The last group is the VIN of the car it was originally installed in. If they match your car's VIN, then it's the motor it came with. Good chance of that being the case; 1cl is a Van Nuys car (that plant only built Camaro & Firebird in those years), 82 year model.

If they don't match your VIN they're not near as worthwhile, on account of, you have no way of knowing if the motor was "rebuilt" before it got put in your car. If it was, then any resemblance (beyond the bore diameter) it might accidentally have to either your original or to whatever it originally was, would be purely a coincidence.

 

Ok thanks for clearing that up for me. The last numbers do match my vin so i know its my orginal motor, but what does cfr stand for? C meaning 82? I assume 0713 is july 13th
