I'd be almost afraid to drive it and mess up anything. Good collector piece, but for that coin I could get into a ctsv or a z06.

Seems the super low mileage 3rd gens are coming out of the wood work as of late. Very nice car, but unless you just want to buy it to let it sit someome there is not much point to it IMO. I would love to have it, but would hate to rack miles on it.
Re: 5000 mile blk on blk 87 iroc on craigslist
There are two 1987 IROCs and seven (that's not a typo, seven) third gen Trans Am/Formulas on e-bay right now with 25,000 or fewer miles on them. And there are two IROCs from Craigslist on this board with less than 25k also. I'm sure if we dug around Craigslist for awhile we'd pull even more up. Unfortunately (for sellers) they aren't really bidding up to a whole lot. The highest actual bid is just north of 12k. Good news for historic purposes and buyers.

You can tell from the ad that they are not a true 3rd gen Camaro lover since the spelled Camaro wrong in the detail of the ad. It's Camaro not Camero!!!

A. It's winter and half the country has snow, ice and road salt.
B. So many of them are on the market.
C. The value is not all that high on them at this point-maybe wait a few more year and they might sell for more-infact I thnk they will.
This is all just my opionion.

It kinda makes me think is not the right time to bring all the low mileage garage queens out.

Ya. There is one in Seattle with 171 miles for 25k. Another one with 1700 for under 20 k. So ya. 25 k for almost 6000 seems high right now

I mean when I got my 87 TA last year with 49K I thought the mileage was so low and my mom even asked if I was sure it was not 149K due to the age of the car. Now I keep seeing all these ultra low mileage cars. I'm kinda surprised that so many people thought to keep the cars so nice and low mileage. I mean in the 80's the 3rd gen's were DD's even in the winter for most who bought them. I grew up in the 80's and remember always seeing them all over the place year round here in NE Ohio.
I love seeing all the super clean/low mileage cars, but again the market is flooded with them right now and my fear is if they go too cheap it's going to bring the value of the nice mid grade cars down-you know the clean 50-60k cars that are selling for $6-8K right now.

I know the feeling. thats why I think its best to get a low miles but not ultra low miles. Mine cost me <10K but I get a car with about a year or two of normal use on it. I can drive it a bit without dropping the value substantially. best of both worlds.

25k is way above market for this car and it does not have the upgraded interior, it has that ugly standard interior as well!! It is going to take 10-15 more years for these to become a good collector piece but now is the time to get one reasonable!! If I were going to spend that much coin, I would look for a 89' Turbo T/A

You need to get rid of those Formula wheels and get the Black diamond GTA wheels on that car, your current wheels take away from the look IMHO

LOLZanyway.. I am going to plastidip the GTA golds in spring and put them on but I really do like what I have. it looks much better in person and I do like it (at night ...wow!) I am just looking to change it up a bit and see how it looks with black GTAs but I dont think my aggressive looking tires will look good on the standard rims (I wish I could have VR50s... sigh). I dont have the luxury of taking it out in the winter unlike you!

I had the same impressions you did about the DD thing but we're now learning that a lot were treated as Corvette style second cars, or at least enough by percentage for there to be a lot. Remember - they built a ton of these. So if only 5% treated them as secondary cars, that's still a lot of cars.

And also, it goes without saying that if there's no restorations going on, that means there will be no replacement parts out there either. The reason you can get everything for a 1967-69 Camaro is because there's been an ongoing restoration effort of near dead First Gens. The reason we can't get so much as a set of floor mats is because there is virtually no restoration market for Third Gens. The number of relatively affordable super low mile cars could be one reason for this.

I guess the person that replied to this message before me, which took it to the top of the message list, deleted their message after I responded.. It was basically an ask for a car like what you have.
