So, I came across this tonight as I was web surfing/looking for parts. I thought to myself, this car is labeled as 1989, it has rear belts, so it must be, but the dash bezel for the defrost and the trunk has provisions for the performance sound switch. I don't think anyone would go through the trouble, or atleast lets assume no one has gone through the trouble of replacing this one piece of the dash. If I recall correctly, for 1989, the UQ& performance sound option was dropped, were there any 1989 firebirds produced with it anyway?
I am really curious.

According to the gtasourcepage.com, there were 3 GTA's produced with UQ7 in 1989.

Aside from the GTASourcePage's figure aspect, that car isn't exactly original with the wrong shifter handle, wrong steering wheel and it also doesn't appear to be GTA despite the claim that the VIN says it is. The VIN doesn't specifically spell GTA or not directly. Replacing that instrument cluster piece is just a few screws and wire disconnects.

Yea I noticed the shifter handle, also saw that the owner must not have put the door panel on the drivers side back together completely because there are pieces missing. And thanks for the answer to my question, I didn't even think of the gtasourcepage

Re: RPO code UQ7 and 1989
Although in 1989 the subwoofer control was dropped. There was a short run early in the production run that had the 88 panel. Eventually all of the 1988 stock ran out and they started using the new dash panel without the blockout panel. I noticed this on a 1989 GTA at the Trans Am Nationals a few years back. He had a low miles early 1989 that looked exactly like that.

IIRC the guy that owned the 1989 I saw was the guy that does the Bandit conversions for the 2nd gens, in Ohio... His name is on the tip of my tongue...

The car in the ad has an identity crisis... Ad says GTA, it is a Trans Am, but it has the Ultima door panels, Trans Am seats. and a Camaro or a Buick Riviera Shifter...
