Mine too. But it's sexy!

Yes...

Fiarhawks have gone from $30K - $70K in recent years. Why this one does not go much higher is beyond me. It keeps getting relisted, it went to $35,000 last time IIRC...

Yes, they came with the Ronal Rims, they had a special center cap that state "firehawk" Some have just the letters (late ones) and the early ones have the bird with the letters firehawk, like the Firestone Firehawk logo....

Re: Firehawk for sale on Fleabay

Thanks okfoz. I learn something new every day here.

Were they always painted between the spokes to match the body color, as they are on this car?

Re: Firehawk for sale on Fleabay

All of the spokes were painted body color of the car. The majority (21) were painted red, there was 1 Green 1 White, 1 Dark Teal & 1 Blue... I hear there will be a Yellow one soon.

Re: Firehawk for sale on Fleabay

Lol, go yellow!

BTW, if you look at the paint of the rims on the colored Firehawks, they have red underneath which is easy top see from the inside. Good way to know if the car has it's original wheels or not. When Mike owned #026 he put the 2nd run Ronals on it and stored the originals because they were scratched. I almost bought them to put on my 92 GTA since it was the same color but passed.

Re: Firehawk for sale on Fleabay

Already looks great. I've always liked Yellow cars. Back in the 80's, a friend of mine repainted his bug, Corvette Yellow. It was a garage paint job (parents garage). 2 days after the spray, a snow storm came. He was kicked out of the garage. The next morning the entire area was under 6 inches of snow. When I drove up to my buddy's house, every car around was white except his bright yellow bug. It was like looking at the sun in the middle of a white background. All the snow just fell off around it.

Re: Firehawk for sale on Fleabay

i actually saw this car up close at the car show last november during the muscle car and corvette car show at the Rosemont, IL. This car was also at the mecum auto auction not long ago and didn't sell there. Its was in pretty mint shape. I tried to talk to the owner about his car but he kinda brushed me off, as if "if you don't have the $$$, then i don't want to talk to you" kinda attitude.

So i left it at that and just said to myself "lose the attitude and you may possibly sell the car.."

I was at the MCACN show as well & spent quite a bit of time with the car & the owner. Great car and destined to be the Burger, Baldwin Motion & Yenko cars of our generation. I've wanted to own one for years and know several owners but have never been able to secure one.

Some day the right car at the right price will find me.

I went and looked at 11 a few weeks ago now. He has a huge box of paperwork that comes with it. The car is in great shape as it should be with under 3k miles.

Other than being a collectible for the rarity, it is not something you couldn't clone for much less money - or build something really impressive for $70k...

That depends entirely on your definition of "clone". I don't see center consoles or SBC>ZF-6ps bellhousings or the aluminum hoods up for sale like I do the T-Rams or the Dana 44s.

The Aluminum hoods come around once in a while, I know of 3 out there... I had one at one point, traded it for some other parts. One person has one sitting in his closet, waiting to be installed... The Bell housings not sure about that one. They have to be out there somewhere...

The Center console would be the part that would have to be fabricated...

Re: Firehawk for sale on Fleabay

I can tell you that there is waaay more to cloning a Firehawk than i original thought.
Certain parts are VERY hard 2 find esp if you are doing a nuts and bolts correct clone. Another problem is that the cars were not all exactly the same. There are minor parts changes from one to the next.
Most people just throw on the wheels, dual cai and T-ram intake and say its a clone.

John

I was just giving examples to him of the harder to find (major) parts vs. the easy ones (relatively) tho lol.

Exactly and it's not even bloody close. That would be more of a tribute car IMO, not a clone.

Needless to say if you someone wants a Firehawk clone on a budget, do a 4th gen haha! Sticker, check, wheels, check, done. Lol. Oh wait, "cold air lid" check

If you're really going all the way with your clone, you should embroider a map pocket with #028 on it

Being done but its only going to have #28 on it because they dropped the 0 around car 16ish.
Also getting a "adjusted" RPO sticker. (leaving the stock one on but laying the "new" one on top of it.

Wasn't the trans tunnel modified for the ZF-6spd? Although different now, those cars were light years away from everything else that was available in 1992.

I remember hearing that a 90's Caprice bumper support in the factory was so far off they had someone on the line with a sledge hammer smashing every one into shape...
