History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
Hi all, This is basically my first post so I hope it's OK.
I bought an '85 T/A last summer that I'm in the process of doing a home resto on.
The car is a solid dark blue. Non-metallic paint. It's all one color [one repaint] and I see no evidence of the skirts being silver even though it has the code for it. It also seems to list it as dark blue for both top and bottom on the sheet from the console.
Is this an uncommon thing? The car is pretty common aside from the color combo. This is the first T/A I've seen in this color in person and I've only seen a couple on the internet
I saw one at a dealership in Appleton, WI, when I was shopping for one.
Unless ths is that car, there may be two like this, at least. Always liked that color on second gens, too.
Being how it's a Canadian car and records are available for the Canada market, Compnine shows approximately 337 other 1985 T/As with the 26U Dark Blue with Silver Aero of the 3598 1985 T/As Z49 (Canada) vehicles in their database.
Thanks JT. That's basically what I was wondering .
Now if I knew why the speedo is primarily in MPH instead of KPH like my '82 S/E was ?? LOL I can't think of any good reason it would have been replaced.
I had thought it was an American car that someone brought into Canada [pretty common in my area]but the code shows its always been Canadian.
my car was originally that dark blue with the silver ground effects. the years weren't too good to it so now she sits in primer and will be sprayed black in the spring.
