You (or anyone) happen to have any info about whats on the white decal on the spoke do you? supplier part number decal like on the crosslace wheels maybe?
Then Chairman, Roger Smith, restructured GM companies into two "divisions" - CPC and BOC. Chevrolet/Pontiac/Canada and Buick/Oldsmobile/Cadillac. This also eliminated Fisher Body and GM Assembly divisions, eliminating jobs. It was supposed to streamline and make these two new mega groups more efficient and profitable, but didn't.
Smith was responsible for a lot of what we saw in the 80s and into the 90s. And also tried to modernize and use /implement robotics and automation in assembly.
Trying to recall, but I think the 80s G body was the last to wear the Fisher nameplate.
Fwiw, I recall seeing a GTA Notchback on display at the Fisher Building in Detroit in the winter of 87. GM used to display their best in the various building lobbies every year.
I'm not sure but sometimes they bring cars to show or parade at the track. They were doing the Iroc series at the Glen at that time. The original owner said that it had been used at the Glen when new...with some other cars.

If you are talking about the decal on the tire...It is for the mounting machine to line up the valve stem when the tires are mounted at the factory.
Interesting to see all the Camaros on dealer lots back then. Today it's crew cab 4by4s so thick you can't see a car.
Yea! this is running on a local commercial about their Chevy Dealership celbrating their 100th Anniversery. I paused the commercial and snapped this pic. This was their Used Lot....lol Who wants an F Body?
Sitting here today reminiscing about my IROC being built 33 years ago. Jan 2,3 and 4th. Wishing I could go back and do it all over again. I still remember when they dropped my floor pan on the Body Truck. A few minutes later the sides and T roof were on and she looked like a Camaro. 3 of the best days of my life. Just wish there was time travel..lol
Here she is two days after bringing her home. I picked her up on Jan 11,85 and this was taken Jan 13,1985 right after church. Pulled it out to look at it.
I knew about the tire decal, was looking at the white decal on the wheel spoke.
Ahhhh I see it now, yes if my memory serves me well, it was a manufacturer part number I believe. I remember taking them off when I worked at the Pntiac dealership rustproofng cars. We had to gove the cars their initial cleanup. At the plant, we would not have used them because they were grouped in Build Sheet codes in aisles. But I believe you are correct. I’ll look for a close up pic in my photos.
here are a couple of items I found in my files. The first one is a letter the plant put out the morning after my IROC was built, (as if I wasn't excited enough)
and the second is my issuance of IROC-Z as my plate in July of 1984.
Lol we had some really great artists at Norwood. This particular one must have wanted to celebrate the best of both worlds. Considering the Last Trans Am giveaway got no respect. See Pics!
Trying to sort through all these spare parts I picked up off the floor at the plant...including peeling these Z28 emblems off the tar block floors.. Even took blocks. haha
I have a friend here in town who has about 30 of those blue GM bins that are full of new NOS GM parts from various vehicle from the 80s and 90s.. There is so much of it that he wont even look through it. I guess his dad worked at a local GM dealer his whole life and just kept collecting new parts that were being tossed in the dumpster.

lol Yep thats how we did it. If it hit the floor, it went into the trash if no one picked it up before the sweepers came around. I had to utilize my poor father for some items, he was there on midnights when no production was running. I usually gave him a list of items i needed if seen on the floor...lol.
If I had only known back then, I would have gotten a dozen or so horn buttons for everyone. I generally picked up items I may need down the road like door panel paltes and switches, window switches, emblems, fasteners..... My car does have the Automatic day night rerview mirror (not offered in 1985). haha. Back then, had I known they only manufacture parts for 7 years after a model or part run.....i would have a ton more. One guy brought his 85 IROC back into AGR (where repairs were made) right before the closing in 87 and put brand new Gatorbacks and brakes on. No supervisor picked up on it with it being very clean and all the other ones in there. May have stuck out in 86 with the CHMSL on the hatch, and it was black, so common color. Ahhh I laugh when I think about all the crazy things that went on. Not like now of course. Right or wrong, thats the way it was back in the 80’s at auto plants. Johnny Cash was right....one piece at a time.

The couple that won it was in Social Security, so they were going to get booted off SSI for winning the car, so they sold the car. Trying to track it down.
I've got several boxes in the garage about like that one, of course the parts in them are used and appreciably worn. Good driver grade parts. They are the kind of thing that isn't worth cataloging and listing on Ebay, and they come in handy when I need bits for this or that. Just kinda makes me think that we are hording more a lot more parts than anyone realizes. The contents of that box of parts would probably make a pretty penny on Ebay.
