History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
I didn't know the the little pencil brace from the passenger hood hinge/fender to the cowl made an appearance this early on. I always thought that was an IROC thing that arrived with the 16" wheels.
Awesome car! I had an 84 set up the same drivetrain back in the day, just without factory AC. Car was lots of fun to drive. I agree, I think it's underpriced too.
I've got the same car, and there is something about driving it I can't pinpoint over my previous '87 blue loaded IROC T5 G92. The combo of red paint, skinny tires, hardtop, and old school engine that seems happy at higher revs?? Don't know. Rides better than the IROC, dash vibrates less, and goes plenty well as needed. Chased a late '80s vette around a super tight off-ramp last evening. Hung right on his tail while his car appeared to squirm/jerk in an unpredictable fashion. Perhaps he had old tires. I could judge and adjust my cornering by the sound of the skinny tire squeal. Loads of fun.
My car is 220,xxx build number, Van Nuys, June 18th build sheet date. This car is 224,xxx sequence, Van Nuys, June '84 door sticker.
Don't know why some cars have the vacuum cylinder on firewall above steering column. My car does not.

Thanks for the kind words about my car guys! I just posted it on Ebay as well last week. There were a ton of followers and page views. I had some offers but nothing I was excited about. I really want the car to go to someone who appreciates it. This is why I came on this site. I am looking at buying land, therefore, I am going to hesitantly sell my rig. Knowing it would go to a good home means more to me than maximizing top dollar for it.
Your car came off the Van Nuys line within a couple weeks after mine, in June 1984. Would love to have detailed photo(s) and/or photocopy of your window sticker. I'll drop you a PM. Thanks.
