1,600 mile Firehawk
Ran into this 1,600 mile Firehawk. Really cool car with the T-ram intake and cage option. Not sure I would pay 90k for it but it's a rare bird for sure.

Amazing car. Would love to see somebody amass the parts to do a Camaro tribute version.

To me, that car is the ultimate firebird regardless of year, an incredible car! I want it badly, just wish it was a little cheaper (and in the US... i'm finding out that it's relatively costly to get cars over the border...)

As these cars sell they drive up the bar for all thirdgens. They have one of the '88 A4U's for sale at Legendary. Cool.

I wonder what that bird drives like. I bet that t-ram motor really has a unique feel behind that six speed.
Would also love to see a video from behind the drivers wheel on a road course

Re: 1,600 mile Firehawk
Got that right
12-pt cage, fuel cell, drive shaft loops, lots of little extras from SLP that make it much more than regular comp Firehawks. It was also the first Firehawk to use all the proper production parts from SLP such as they were, for example it was the first built with the plastic air inlet tube. One of the very few that SLP installed the Firehawk door sticker onto as well. Most were owner added due to the dispute.
That car rides so stiff with that 12-pt cage that if a fly hits the front, the back knows about it lol. It's had a complete modern dyno tune reprogramming done with new injectors back in about 2002. Made the SLP tune look worse than dog sh*t. Seriously, it was comical how bad the base line dyno was compared to the final.
I pulled into a gas station in Rialto CA once and drew a crowd watching me undo the racing harness and climb out over the roll bars No one in real life ever had the slightest clue what it was on the street. The original owner broke her in by driving her to Vegas and back

Just watched the TV show Legendary Motor Cars. The firehawk was on it. They couldn't figure out what it was, or so the show go's. They did show it well.

Re: 1,600 mile Firehawk
Seemed to me to be a set up for a latter show. Like you said, a quick google and they would have had their answer. Seemed too tongue in cheek to me.
I saw the add they had up before they sold it. They certainly knew what it was by then. If they did sell it back to GM, it would make for a good show. Rare Unknown Classic Returned to GM!

Re: 1,600 mile Firehawk
Most of these car shows are running into the problem of doing the same cars over and over again. How many of the same Shelby's, Camaro's, Corvettes Euro and Spaghetti cars can they continue to show before viewers move on. It's getting harder and harder to find cars to feature that haven't already been done to death on their or rival shows. I've wondered how long it would take before they got to ours.

Re: 1,600 mile Firehawk
I wouldn't get your hopes up. They didn't seem terribly interested in the GNX either. Didn't they agree to sell those two cars on consignment? The show spent considerably more time focused on the Corvette, Lambo, and the trash dumpster Mini. The Firehawk was only on the screen for a few seconds, in the background, an establishing shot of the door decal, and a quick shot with the door open and under the hood. If they were setting up for a later show focusing on either car, I must have missed it.
I might be giving the show undue respect, but I doubt they'd fake lack of knowledge and feign disinterest, just so they could hype it later. It came across as borderline disgust that someone would think they'd be interested in some Hockey-Haircut on wheels.
PS In before the complaints about working around the board's word censorship filter. LOL

Re: 1,600 mile Firehawk
You may be right. They left it hanging, saying they would have to do further research. Couldn't believe they cut to the paper weight Mini racer. That car was swiss cheese metal and better served as lawn art.
However, they also like to look like they are the, be all end all of knowledge on any car they show or talk about. Not expecting it to show back up, just seemed like a set up. I've seen other shows do this trick.

As far as the Velocity channel, I love it and watch it constantly. One of the shows I watch fairly often is "Wheeler Dealers." I saw one recently where they redid a 1988 Fox-body Mustang. Needless to say, the rivalry got the best of me and I sent an email to Mike Brewer (the finder/buyer) and asked him to get ahold of a third gen Camaro or Firebird and give it the same treatment they gave the Mustang. I got the standard form email response, but hopefully it reached him and he'll take my advice.
