L69 T5 is an appealing drive.
Are the stripes incorrect for 83?

Nice. L69, T5 and a convertible. Should be a lot of fun.

Is that blackout around and under the front plate holder original?

Re: 1983 Z28 L69 VERT

Yes jmd you are correct, those stripes are not Camaro stripes at all, AFAIK. That car would have come with the 3-color silver ones; med silver, light silver, charcoal. Those are just yerbasic TrimLine kinda stuff. D00d writing the ad copy has no clue what was "factory" or not.

That's not the usual convertible conversion you see from back then. Most of em were that hideous Autoform elephant plop.

The "5.0 Liter HO" emblems are conspicuously absent from the rocker panels and everywhere else they show, which conveniently avoids a whole bunch of the actual identifiable L69 parts like cat, A/C lines, etc. It does have the electric fan. Hmmmm... The VIN they show is correct (engine digit is 7) for the L69 that year, whether that goes with the actual car or not.

The blackout on the front is more or less original; can't tell if it's the correct "satin" finish or not, but it's at least in the right places.

It has exactly the same interior, same color and everything, that my car came with.

I see no subframe bracing whatsoever of any kind. I bet it drives like a limp dishrag.

Too bad it has those ,,, ... speakers ... graunched into the doors that way.

Still in all, fairly nice car; not too unreasonably priced even, for someone that isn't too concerned about details.

While we're on topic, what constituted getting those seats vs. the solid center / striped bolsters? Edit: like the attached.

Since a friend had a fairly stock, clean 84 Z28 20+ years ago, differences between it and others of the close years catch my eye most easily.

Sofas comments are right on the money on this car!

Also the Straman company did a bunch of the cam/bird ragtop conversions.

Good looking conversion and likely rare as hell!

Wouldn't take much to get it looking stock again.

Those seats there that you have pictured were used in '84-only. Well, that fabric style anyway.

Re: 1983 Z28 L69 VERT

The blackout on the front end is NOT correct. The '82 pace car is the only '82-'84 Z28 with the front end blacked out that I know of. The rest of them are body colored.

The '83 Berlinetta I had bought almost 30 years ago certainly had them. I referred to them as velour, not sure what they really were. Had a zipper running up the middle of the rear of each seat.

I was referring to the seats that have the thick black stripes in the bolsters and have the adjustable headrests. Those were used in '84 only... unless I've just never seen an '83 with them. But I can say for sure that they don't have zippers on the backs. I've owned a bunch of the '84 style.
