Not sure if the owner is expecting somewhere around $10,000 (per the title). Looks like it could be a fairly nice car. I'm not not sure how one can pitch a low ball offer if an initial price isn't established. In your opinion, what would be a "low ball" offer? Are those the factory louvers used in 1985?

I'd want to know how badly it was smashed. Looks like a CAPA decal on the headlight bar, and it's black not the proper gray fiberglass. A collision would also explain the repaint. Needs the engine bay detailed pretty badly. The overspray on the washer tank and some of the wiring under the hood just seems lazy.

No, those louvers were never factory.

No t-tops, no power windows or locks, 55k not really a true low mileage car. Car has also been repainted. Their is overspray on the washer fluid bottle, and evap can. Overspray usually means sloppy paint work.

Personally, I won't pay more then 4,900 for it.

Good catch, I didn't notice any of that before you mentioned it. The car appears to have been hit in the left front. The radiator hold down is broken on the left side and there appears to be overspray clear up on the left side wiper arm of all things. I thought it might have had paint because it was possibly a Van Nuys car (not sure if they had issues as far back as 85).

It could be worse, I'd just worry about how it looks under the cosmetic sheetmetal. If the painter was that lazy, did they fix any of the structural damage correctly? Not a deal breaker if the price were right. If a person discounted every thirdgen with repaired, minor collision damage, they'd be passing on 75% of thirdgens on the market. Most will have at least some paint touch up, pinch welds smashed, failing paint on bumper covers, etc.

The mileage isn't super low, but compared to average mileage for a thirty year old car...
