1992 JY T/A Convertible CL

https://lincoln.craigslist.org/cto/d...591080510.html

Came across this one on Craigslist. Thought it exemplifies the typical fringe owner that has watched too much BJ or Ebay, and figures his used up thirdgen is worth high retail book value just because it's "rare".

Condition seems "Good" aside from needing detailed, missing the factory wheels, and the poor condition of the seats and map pouch, but I'd personally put this value closer to $6,500 than $12,500, but maybe I underestimate the power of yellow with black leather and the soft top?

Maybe 12k in 20 years when this is the last T/A available. 6-7k would be decent; but the seat and 140k stretch it. Much better deals out there.
For $12,500, the engine bay and interior should atleast get a bath........

Re: 1992 JY T/A Convertible CL

Wow, he’s asking more than I paid for my 31k mile Vert..

Glad I bought right before all the articles about 80s cars being good investments and Barrett Jackson started putting ideas in people’s heads..

I’d say $6k is high side for 140k miles and not perfect mint condition without all the original parts..

If the previous owner was meticulous and kept the car with perfect seats, original rims, didn’t do anything tasteless to the interior or exterior and the paint and top were good, just high well maintained miles with normal wear I’d say $6-8k.

These people base their prices off cars with 10k-30k miles that are near mint and running through auction or at classic car dealers..

I’ve had these cars when they hit 100k miles and it takes a toll on them. You’d have to put money into it to get it right.

They don’t get that the higher prices are people that want a perfect thirdgen right now that don’t want to have to restore it.. or they’re trying to pull one over on someone that sees one going for $28k and thinks this is a good deal..
