id say he is a couple grand on the high side from selling it .. car has been around for awhile and has had no luck in selling it yet .. early z28's are a hard car to sell for good money .. there are a bunch of them with low miles for sale and they dont ever seem to sell ..Originally Posted by zya5point0

It’s overpriced. If I was looking for an early Z28. It would need to be a 5 speed and t top car and the right color combo for top dollar. This car has none of that. To me this car is 8k max.

Gotta keep in mind that in 1984 they made a bazillion Z28s. I don't recall the exact numbers but it was more than a few other years of production combined. IIRC there were more 84 Z28s made than any other year.

If it was a 5 speed with t-tops and the “Camaro, Camaro” interior it would be worth the asking.

It’s not totally outlandish, but I think being an auto and a hard top there is negotiating room. Most people want their classic car or “weekend” fair weather car to be special.. removable or convertible roof, 5-speed or a built car that puts you in the seat and turns heads.
This car does have its low miles and originality going for it but no extra fun factors.
I’d probably want at least $11-12k seeing how it has original documentation, tires, and looks like ready for car shows and cruise nights.

could be worse though and be a 1982 z28 .. those 140-150 hp motors were brutal .. this guy has been trying to sell this one for a long time .. drops 500 every monthOriginally Posted by Drew

$10-12k for either of these two examples is reasonable because of the miles. I would rather have one of these than a beat IROC.

Agreed, I was being generous at 8k because of the L69 motor. If this was a silver/ black car or a black/gold car with 5-speed t-tops And Recaro interior I would be willing to go up to 10k on the car. This car has none of that and to me 6,500 to 8k is realistic for a retail buyer. It’s a nice car but missing the value added options that really drive prices.Originally Posted by ray jr

I agree with these guys. If it was a 5spd w/ T-tops it would bring 10k. The way it sits it would be lucky to pull 8k. Nice car just not worth that kind of $

I mean, it's not crazy money. But I rarely see an early car crack $10K.

It just takes the right buyer... if someone has the cash and wants it bad enough......

Agreed, not everyone is after investing in appreciation value, most buy due to sentimental reasoning. Somebody out there had that car in high school and went on his first date, met his wife, hung with his friends, traveled all over, raced with, and now that someone is making a good living and wants to bring back his youth and feel that way again. That's all it really takes.. Originally Posted by dagwood

Yep, I agree 100%
I would have paid double for my car because I wanted it bad enough due to sentimental reasons

I would have to agree with you guys on that note There's a reason I've had three cars that have all looked about the same.
