first time buyer Buying 1987 camaro iroc Z. HELP please!

Hello ,
I love these cars however i am not very mechanically inclined or very experienced with buying older cars like this online. I am hoping if someone could take a look at this Ad and let me know if anything stands out or things i should be concerned with. i love this car but i dont know too much about it. is there problems with the 87s? should i look for something newer like 90-92? any information helps!! if theres anyone who owns this car and has advice? cheers!
thanks in advance!

Looks like a typical, fairly straight and unmolested 87 Iroc. Could be a nice car. It would still need to be looked at in person to get a better scope on it since pictures are deceiving, especially since those pictures are poor quality and missing a lot of the things that need to be looked at. Whether it's worth that dollar amount for that many km remains to be seen.

Looks like a pretty decent car. Nothing stands out as being wrong

87's are great cars. If you look for a 91 or 92, you cant get the 5.7 engine with t-tops. That car us optioned just like my old 87 IROC.

Overall it does appear to be pretty nice, and overall decent shape. I would absolutely have the owner replace the throttle position sensor and show that it runs properly. That's a no-brainer to replace and would make me wonder why he doesn't just do it.

Does your province require a front license plate? This car doesn't have one which could mean it is not currently licensed on the road. THe new battery and brakes could speak to a car that's been sitting and had a few bucks thrown at it to get sellable. If true, then the seller doesn't want to put another dime in hence not replacing a sensor. The paint won't look as good in person is my bet since the pictures are poor quality. "Almost no rust" means very different things to different people. With that kind of mileage there is no way I'd buy it sight unseen - at the very least arrange to have a local appraiser or ideally a local 3rd gen enthusiast on this board, to give it a once over, could be the best coin you spent if you can't see it yourself. There is a lot of misrepresentation on used cars sold on-line in general, get well versed in that before you buy to understand the risks.

Good luck.

Absolutely agree that you, a professional, or a highly knowledgeable person should be performing a touchyfeelinsmellylistening check to this or any car. I too wonder if your going to go to the effort of doing a job like caliper replacement, why not something like a TPS sensor?Makes me think there is more to it and full disclosure isn't there. Its priced fairly still with some room put in for negiotiating I believe. Good maintenance over the years is critical for enjoyment now of any 30 yr old car, and I get the sense that it may of been just average. Big sound systems to me scream youth, and likely not a whole lot of extra disposable income for preventative maintenance.

I will say if the seller also owns that Chevelle in the background he must be really cool. I might be biased.
