Question about 1990-1992 Camaro gauges

In another thread here “GeneralDisorder” has posted some photos of a low mileage 1992 Camaro. I noticed that the indicator needles are orange on that car. I have a 1990 Camaro and the indicator needles are all yellow and match the numbering of the gauge backgrounds. I’ve also looked a several 1990,1991 and 1992 low mile camaros on YouTube and the ones I’ve seen all have the yellow indicator needles like my car. Can a third gen expert here shed some light on this? What cars got the orange indicators? Was it a early vs late production thing in 1992?

I believe some time in 1991, the colors changed to the orange. I have a 1991 that has the dark orange, but I've seen earlier build 1991s with the lighter yellow/white ones.

Then the question is how many were changed by the dealer due to tach failures, and odometer gears breaking, etc. Earlier units may have been updated to the newer style just because that's what was sent out for service.

Good point. Thankfully all of my cars instruments including the tach work fine. After doing more research over turned up a couple more 92’s that have the orange gauge needles,so I’m assuming it was maybe a mid 92 thing, since I’ve also seen a couple 92’s with the yellow indicators. Funny it took GM so long to change to the 6 digit odometers. I see so many ads online for earlier camaros and firebirds where the sellers claim their car only has 89k on it because it rolled over. You can tell by looking at the rest of the car is not a low mile car.
