History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
Looking at the Pontiac literature and the order worksheet(6/85) I do not see this option. I searched and did not find any info on this RPO with the Pontiacs, just the IROCs. My car is a later build - last six is 244239, Any info out there? Full RPO list:

Do you have the perimeter stripe on the lower body and front and rear bumpers? I believe the DX3 deleted that stripe as it was otherwise standard.
There is little information on it other than another member here, years ago, shown me their SPID/RPO sticker from their own 1986 Trans Am with the same DX3 code and their Trans Am did not have the perimeter stripe.

Code DX3 shows that your car never had stripes, which is probably why stripes weren't applied after the repaint.
86 Trans Ams(and 85), were available two-tone or monotone, unlike 87 TAs, which were only available two-tone, because the new GTA took over the monotone scheme. Your code WW6 shows the GFX matched the car's primary color, code 74U, so it was monotone from the factory. Both schemes, monotone and two-tone, received a dot-matrix stripe above the GFX, similar to a two-tone Z28 and a monotone IROC and each's solid color stripe.
I can't say I've ever seen or heard of any of the two-tone schemes having no stripe from the factory, so those probably didn't have stripe delete option DX3 available to them. Whereas monotone schemes apparently could be had without the stripe, but the person placing the order(dealer or customer) probably had to know the material very well, because most monotone cars weren't ordered without a stripe.
Yes, that is what is puzzling to me as well because the 86 Firebird car order work sheet that is posted on this forum does not mention any option of it, but the form is also from dated 6/85 so it may have been a late option available later on that I can't find literature on. Does anyone have a later work sheet?
I'm also curious if the stripe delete removed the other graphics on the car, like the Trans Am and Firebird logos. Possibly moved the Trans Am logos lower on the bumpers? 🤷♂️
I found this bulletin while browsing a different thread. I also looked through the 82-92 GM F Parts and Illustration Catalog and found that stripe delete also removed the nose and sail panel Firebird emblems. If anyone has a later 86 Firebird order worksheet please post it up.
