Photographing and documenting the 1989 SCCA Escort World Championship #97

I was privileged to get to photograph and document the surviving 1989 Morrison Cook #97 SCCA Escort Series Championship car today. As some are aware I own the 1988 Championship #98 which was part of what would become 5 team cars built to race in 88 and 89 by Morrison Cook and have been compling the team history for a few years now.

This car filled in some blanks in that history but still digging for more. I took tons of pictures but will just post a few for now. This car is a time capsule and has been stored in climate control garages since it last raced close to 35 years ago.

I wonder what the story is behind the rear hatch trim having Firebird style aero spoiler mounts on it. Did the rear glass break at one time and they substituted a rear glass hatch from a Trans Am? Or, did GM run out of Camaro hatch trim parts when the car was assembled at the factory.
