I have a 92 RS but,
Im considering purchaseing a 73 Type LT. I tried posting on the second gen web board, but it doesnt seem to be working, is there anyone out there that knows anything about these?? here is the message i was going to post on the 2nd gen board. :
I am considering purchasing the above mentioned car. I think i can get it for right around 1000.00 because the people that have it dont drive it and are currently unemployed.
It is a second owner car, and is numbers matching. The owner states that it needs a floorboard replacement, possibly both, and that it has been hers since 1982.
The car had been repainted at least once.. but back to factory color.
There are a few problems with the body of the car, a dent on the corner of the driver rear quarter near the tail lights. Also, there is rust around the rear quarter passenger wheel lip.
The car has been parked for a long time, up on cinderblocks, however the owner states about once a month she goes out and puts about 2 gallons of fuel in it, starts it, lets it run in gear with the rear tires spinning until it runs out of fuel. Most of the body is straight from what i can see... most of the subframe looked ok from what i could see..
There are a few other things that i noted.
It is a Type LT, with hide away wipers, It had Air Conditioning, wood grain dash, NO center console at all.. and this is what threw me.. It has a 3 speed automatic on the steering Column.. as well as a Tilt Wheel. I think that this car may even have power windows, but i am not sure as i cant remember if it did or not.
My question is, is this a worthy car to purchase? What other issues are second gens known for having as problems? Is the Steering column shifter normal? or rare? or what?
And generally any other info that you all could possibly tell me.
Thanks in advance..
