Floor pan replacement...Questions?
Floor pan replacement...Questions?
I am currently completely restoring a 83 Z28 L69. The car originally came from Massachusetts so it has seen road salt. I compltetely stripped out the interior and was a little disturbed at what I saw. On the Passenger side I had a 1/4"X 3" hole behind the seat and then at the cross brace for the front seat bolts I found heavy rust and a 2 1/2" hole and 6-7 pencil size holes. I also found some heavy rust holes along the firewall seem on the pass side. There is a 1 1/2" hole and the whole seam is either rotted through or has extensive rust. The driver side also had a 1" and 3" hole in the floor board. Heres where my questions come in. Obviously these will extend over to the inner rockers eliminating all of my major holes, however do the reaplacement panels inclued the seat cross brace bracket (heavy rust even some rot notches) My other question is do these pans stop at the flat area before it curves up towards the firewall or does it go all the way up to the firewall? Classic Industries says they extend to the firewall extension? In my oppinion there is a seperate piece between the floor pan and firewall. Is it one piece with the replacements or is it seperate or does it even come with it? I originally was going to patch the areas and stay away from welding but now after sand blasting and patching
I have decided that I am spending a fortune doing everything else right why cut corners here. Any one have info on these floor pans or where I might be able to get em beside Classic Industries($120 shipping)???? Thanks
