82-84 firebird automatic shifter plate with ashtray gauges
Im seeing if there is anyone interested in trading my shifter plate that has oil temp & tranny temp AEM gauges installed in ashtray. Comes with sensors. I am looking for a trade +extra cash for an 83 or 84 shifter plate with overdrive in real good condition like mine. This has no cracked screw mounts. If I cant trade I would sell outright so I could purchase a different shifter plate. Trans sensor not connected thats why sens error.
Re: 82-84 firebird automatic shifter plate with ashtray gauges
I have a new gear selector plate installed in plate. Its the part that lights up. If yours is in good shape i will leave it installed if not I would remove it and swap it over because it alone cost 50 bucks.
Re: 82-84 firebird automatic shifter plate with ashtray gauges
I will look at mine tonight. I planned on doing the exact same thing you did with the gauges, angle rings and all.
But I was going to make a whole new plate out of textured ABS plastic because I have the Hurst Dual Gate shifter.
Re: 82-84 firebird automatic shifter plate with ashtray gauges
I had to get creative as I already had a triple gauge pod in my pillar and backup cam and gps monitors in my center ac vents. but I'm ditching the old school small block and going with ls engine and 4l60e trans, and since they will be mostly stock and I have a big tranny cooler I won't need to monitor temps any longer, and I miss my ashtray for putting random small things, these cars don't have much storage space for small items and I used the little cubby below the headlight switch for remote mount radar detector so it's a busy dash to say the least.
Re: 82-84 firebird automatic shifter plate with ashtray gauges
No problem, thanks for checking. I still want to trade out for a real nice stock one but if not I think I will just put it back in this winter and maybe connect the engine oil temp to the radiator cold side just to monitor temps there. Its easy enough to make one though just takes time to file it down to fit the ashtray perfectly so you don't have any gaps, then just use some good epoxy underside to hold it together, and I took a belt sander to the angle rings to get the most angle possible with them.
Re: 82-84 firebird automatic shifter plate with ashtray gauges
UPDATE: With some care I was able to remove the gauge insert in my shifter plate, therefore I am not looking for a shifter plate or trading. I will be selling both AEM temperature gauges with wiring and sensors, also the ashtray insert and beveled rings all for $150. So if you want to add these gauges to your shifter plate all you have to do is remove ashtray lid and install custom plate and epoxy from the rear to hold in place. PM me if interested.
