Need a locking lug nut key. My 92 has none and I don't want to mess up rims by using wrong socket. Anyone help me out?? Surely someone has a few of these they decided to not use. Thanks
The problem is, the lug keys are not all the same. You can take it to a shop and have those removed or use an oversized socket and hammer it on each nut. I have had to use this method on dozens of parts cars and it works. Then you could buy a matching set with a key, which I have a few sets for sale.
My very first car had one locking lug nut on each wheel, but no key in the car. I tried hammering a socket on, but it cracked. I ended up using a cold chisel, aimed at the edge of the nut to back them off enough to turn them off by hand. Worked pretty well, but of course destroyed the lug nuts in the process.

can you pm me your contact info? I tried to pound on a 20mm socket and impact it off....that was a no go, i'm about ready to turn green and rip these babys off!!!
I honestly just need to borrow a socket, i'm gonna take all 4 locking lug nuts off and just replace them with normal ones, thanks
Let me check with hubby, I''m willing to lend it, if you send it back. I don't have more than one of that style.
actually beth, I went today and stopped by a local tire shop and they took em off for me and replaced them with regular lugs....3 of the 4 even gave the tire guy a fit.......this thing was frustrating the heck out of me
thank you so much, it was very nice of you to offer to send that lug nut key to me, I appreciate it, this site is awesome for help
There are hundreds of combinations on the locking lugs, the odds of you having a match with somebody else are slim to none. Snap on & the other tool companies have lug kits with reverse threads on them that will grab the sockets & spin them off. My buddy has the kit, I've only needed it twice.
