This is my in interior that i did myself while attending Wyotech. What you think?
The vinyle is black carbon fiber with white vinyl welting and red crushed velvet inserts

 

I would have used a different material for the red, but it looks very clean and unique.

 

not being rude but why go with a different material. like what?

 

I am about 300 lbs, the velvet will beat down with my big @$$ , i would use a thicker sturdier cloth.

 

Oh well im about 180 and my instructor MAC from florida said that it wont break down. this velvet isnt like the crappy stuff at wal mart lol. His shop is called Mcdonalds upholestry in florida you should check it out.

 

dude, personally i think those are the nicest seats ive seen in a third, or even a camaro. im in love with them. where did you get them, they were obviously custome made right?

 

I made them myself while i attended Wyotech in Laramie Wy. To redo the WHOLE interior i think it cost my around $280. I also wrapped the dash in Carbon fiber and the armrest and headliner in ther red crushed velvet. Pictures of door panels are coming again it means alot

 

I allso dyed all of the plastic panels.

 

I am wanting to sand and fiberglass my dashboard and gloss it black, I am into building motors and mechanics so what do you think, worth experimenting?

 

were the seats hard to do, cause you mentioned you need a sewing machine, ive got an aunt that can sew anything i wount mind making somthing like those, but black and blue to match my car.

 

Thats alot of work ZONES89RS and alot of weight being added. I would go with a glossy black vinyl and wrap it like i did. But what are you looking for?

Where the seats hard to do yes and no. The driver seat took me five days to do but the passenger seat only took me a day. You allso need to make sure your aunts sewing machine is strong enough. Cause vehicle vinyl is a little thicker then cloth lol. They mke a blue crushed velvet that to me looks better then the red but it wouldnt of atched my paint job so you know.

 

where did you get the material?

 

Well i am just wondering what i can do with a cracked dash, i guess i will experiment and take pics for the final product, a thin coat of glass shouldnt weigh it down that much.

 

Thought Wyotech but the company is Weston out of Denver. They cut me a manufactor price which is like 30% off. So i dont know how much they will charge you. I used 13 yards of Carbon fiber $19.90yd and about 6 of the red $12.25yd and 2 of the white $10.25yd.

True but the less it weighs the faster. But i had a cracked dash to i was told to sand it then seal it with either marglass or fiberglass if you wrap it it hides the crack but the filler makes it smooth.

Maybe yeah that should work. It will make your dash smooth and gloosy and if thats what you want go for it. Watch out for the screw holes though and the thickness of the fiberglass for clearance issues. have fun thats what its all about

Yeah, that velvet looks pretty sharp, and its definitely unique. Is it comfortable to sit on? Because it looks really soft and nice.

 

Hey would love to help out a fellow camaro lover but i just got out of that class and need a sewing machine and a good used one runs aroun $500 but when i do i will keep you in mind.

And yes it fells so soft ot like ultra leather but that stuff is pricey like $80 a yard. Its softer and stronger then the velvet you get at wal mart. Plus it has a longer sunfade rating too.

All ready got a job in Cheyenne doing collision work and plan on doing interiors on the side soon as i get the place and tools. In a few years im hoping on opening my own shop doing restorations. And by the way

 

Your interior looks pretty nice. I am not a big fan of the crushed velvet, it seems to lowriderish to me. The color combo is nice though, and it looks like quality work.

I love that color of red. Also like the old school SS emblems and crush velvet. I really only see old 50s-70s muscle cars with crushed velvet during the summer-time car shows.

And definitely check out that car club out of the Denver area.

 

Waiting for more pics of that interior. Anything to spruce up our dashes is a plus.

No, its a plastic cap I got from accu-form. The grain was sanded smooth, then painted and cleared. My dash is still perfect, so I didn't want to experiment on it. The glare on the window is no worse than a stock dash with fresh viynl shine.

 

If you use gloss black on the dash pad you'll probably be sorry. I did it on an RS, I no longer have, but in direct sunlight the reflections on the windshield are awful, try flat black or at most semi-gloss. IMO

Thanks for all the comments i got alot of crap from ricers while i was doing them so i wasnt to proud of them at first. But now i love them. Pics of the dash and panels are coming tomorrow so get ready. I will check out the club out of denver and have to attend some meets in the summer.

you converted your car to a hardtop?

 

To much work sorry this was the donor car it had a blown 2.8. I bought it for like $200. My interior was like a twister went through it so this was a huge jump. Plus it didnt have any back seats.

not bad at all! great work. i personaly wouldnt have used velvet..not a fan of the material. would have just done all vinyl...but what u have goin on in there looks good.

When you said carbon fiber dash I though that you covered the thing in real carbon fiber, not viynil (sp) printed material. Still looks really sweet.

 

It got the job done and thats all that matters right?

I really like all the work youve done to it, the seats and everything look REALLY clean, especially the impulse looking symbol on the door panel. How hard was it to wrap your dash? Mines got broken material on both edges and I want to replace or wrap it like that.

 

You know if you do good prep work and have a good glue anybody can do it.

 

I'm not the biggest fan of the red velvet material, but they do look pretty nice. I think they would look even more bitchin' if the plush material was red houndstooth. It would have went nice with the older "camaro" writing on your door panels.

 

I like the red velvet myself, its different. love the marble-like texture and the color goes well with the rest of the interior, sweet job! If you wanted to make some money, you could start selling seats like that, I'd buy (if I had the dough! )

How did you create that chevy symbol on the door panel? Been thinking about maybe doing some door panel with that kind of logo on it, but can't figure out how to make it look as clean as yours does.
