quick question about the lower part of the center console..

in the lower part under the shifter, center holder console, and ash tray thing : Will any thirdgen console fit into another third gen?

My buddies didnt have the lower part (broken off when he bought it) and he wants a new one.. I found him one from a third gen in a junkayd for 10 bucks but, I think its an earlier year than his 89. It looks like it will fit but I had a question about the actual design of it.

It has these chunks missing near where the ashtray is, in hte sides. They look like they were like that stock but, I wasnt sure. They are right in front of the fake vents under the radio housing. Anyone have info on this console?? Its different than others Ive seen (I also saw a newer Firebird with the pleather like console there too but, that looked like it wouldnt fit.)

ok, I jumped the gun asking about it

heres a pic of what it looks like : I was a bit concerned about that part that looks like a < towards that air vent in the front. It wasnt IN the car when I found the console so it looked odd.

Axle/Gears: huh?? guessing stock.
by the way those arent fake vents under the radio housing... when the deck was installed if it wasnt you, the installer might have had to remove some of the air ducting that goes to them. I know I had to on my car...
