Hey guys,

I have an 87 trans am and I've been looking as to how to improve the sound system while making it look as stock as possible. I don't want to get a sub box because A i have t tops and B i frankly don't need that much bass. I've been looking into swapping the sail panel trim and rear cargo trim from a fourth gen trans am that had the 10 speaker system as a cheaper alternative then messing with everything myself. Does anyone know if the cargo and sail panel trims will neatly swap into my 87?

I've seen pics of the 4th gen rear interior and rear sail panels in a thirdgen and it doesn't look very neat.

If you want the best sound in a thirdgen: Get fiberglass kick panels from jim85iroc(i think thats the right name) and have a 6.5" mid range and a separate tweeter for the kick panels. Remove rear speakers. Then put one 10 inch or maybe even 12" sub in back. You could build your own box and put the sub box where the rear glove compartment or where the spare tire would be. One good 10" sub would be plenty to sound better than stock and not sound too excessive.
