The old harness is still there. I could put a stock gauge pod in if I want and it will work. I T-tapped off the wires in the harness and ran new wires to the Dakota Digital microprocessor.

can you get a connector to plug into the stock harness at the two points, and just run each wire to where ever you need it, i can get all of the pins that i need to wire it up, that would be a very nice solution to mangling the stock harness

Not for the Dakota Digital unit, I don't know about others. The entire stock housing is still there (minus the mylar circuit board) so another connector would interfere with the mounting depth. Good idea though...

Re: 90-92 Camaro...custom gauge setups?
thats my question, all the wires run into two connectors, am wondering if you can buy a connector to plug into the harness like the factory one, then just run your own wires off each pin as needed.
otherwise ill have to hack up the stock stuff

oh, i missred what you wrote, sorry.
my plan was to use an extra cluster that i have, remove the gauges and everything just use the back part with the circuit board and the plugs, then build my new cluster into it, trying to make a new plug in cluster.

Re: 90-92 Camaro...custom gauge setups?
the way I wired mine was I found a male and female connector ends that matched (like a 10 pin connector) and wired one end to the car and the other end to the cluster. This way you can unplug and remove the whole gauge panel as one assembly. Just go to a parts store and ask to look at thier connector leads. they should have some. might have to use two 4 pin connectors. Or go to the salvage yard, find a car with a connector that you like and cut it out of the harness. worked great for mine, just one plug and some screws and the panel is out.
you wouldn't need to cut off the factory end. just cut back the wire that you need about 2 inches from the connector and splice a longer wire to your new connector. this way if you wanted to go back to stock its just a matter of splicing the wire back to the original connector.

I've Been Looking For A Gauge Insert That's Black & Has The Cobalt Style Numbers Like The More Recent Chevys Or Cadillacs Have. Does Anyone Know Websites That Would Have Them Or Have A Variety Of Gauge Inlays? I've Been Looking On Ebay & Hawks Third Gen Nor Rick's Camaros Has What I'm Looking For
