Dash Cracks (more than the pad)

Ok, from what I've read the dashes in our third gens really suck. That holds true for mine as well.. The dash pad has several cracks along it. I think I'm going to go ahead and remove it, re-vinyl it, and be done. I think that will look decent if I take my time.

Now, the tough part. The dash itself is cracks just to the left of the center A/C vents. The crack runs alongside the vents about halfway down the dash. It is quite noticeable. The "pieces" of plastic are still there, but cracked.

Is there a fix for this short of trying to build a custom dash or hoping for a junkyard dash? It almost looks like the pieces would "glue" back together and be almost seamless if I had the dash apart.

Has anyone tried this? If so, success? And is taking the dash apart that far as big of a PITA as it looks like it might be?

It might be a while before I tackle this project. I have more pressing matters (like a rotor replacement on the passenger side and brake job coming up this weekend.)

Take the dash out, use a flexible glue (check around a true value or an ace for something paintable) fill, sand, then hit the whole dash with paint so it's even.

Dash replacement is easy. REAL easy. I just bought one yesterday out of a salvage yard for $40. It was sun faded to a light gray color. I took a rag and put a little brake fluid on the rag and wiped the dash and it now is a rich glossy black. All you need to remove the dash is a phillips screwdriver.
