Gauge Needle Removal

I am attempting to remove my speedometer needle to put a new one on and am not sure how to get the old one off. I tried pulling on it, but it didn't seem to want to come off and I didn't want to break anything due to not knowing what I was doing. Is there anything special that needs to be done or do I just pull it off of there? Thanks

Re: Gauge Needle Removal

I have no personal experience with the needle (except to say that they're brittle and may easily break). I've heard, however, that members have slipped the tinges of a fork under the needle and pried it off. Afterward, recalibrating the speedo head so that it reads correctly is a problem to consider.
